I got the same impression.

Also ranks quite high on my Underrated Bassists list. Solid as a rock.

Re: What Was The Deal With Marillion?

Chalk me up as another introduced via Kerrang. Attended the Misplaced Childhood tour in '86. Exceptional album, fantastic tour!

The b-sides, Lady Nina and Freaks, are both under appreciated classics as well.

I'm not sure what the fuck this is but youtube suggested them to me and I'm digging it. Seems like these guys are from some Mexican country or some shit.

So, any of you guys heard about these muchachos before?
That was worth a Bandcamp visit. Thanks!

Nothing reps the 80s more than this record.
I'd accept 'reps the early 80's'. Appetite owns the tail end.

Re: Newest video I shot/edited/directed: Neil Hamburger: Sleeping for Free

He did a comedy set at the Sled Island music festival many years ago, and was attacked by an audience member.

From what I understand, that wasn't the only time it's happened. Some folks don't react well to Hamburger.

Congrats on this opportunity, Sleek.

Re: Stones Annoucement w/ Jimmy Fallon

There's something comforting in the Stones still releasing new material. They just keep resetting the bar. "Angry".... song is meh. Stones haven't made a truly good record since 1982. Since then there's been enough really good songs to fill maybe 3 full length albums. The last tune I genui...

Re: Lets talk Starz.

The debut, Violation and Coliseum Rock were all great meat-and-potato rock records in their day. Never cared for Attention Shoppers as much.

They're one of those bands that haven't aged well though. Last time I threw them on, much of it sounded very dated and mediocre. Adequate but unspectacular.

Thank goodness Dee is here to offer guidance to the younger bands. Maybe they'll even reach Twisted Sister's lofty heights one day.

Re: Faster Pussycat

I consider the debut a timeless classic, and very definitive of the genre and era. Wake Me hasn't aged as well, but was a solid sophomore effort. Just a tad clinical, compared to the more rollicking debut. Did not care for the third record at all. As a side, just recently picked up a Nottingham '87 ...

In Vancouver, it certainly was. Hearing it in heavy rotation on CFOX is what prompted me to buy tickets to the show.

Re: The NEW What Song Are You Listening to Thread?

"This Is Tao" - Sons Of Freedom First time I've ever seen someone reference Sons Of Freedom on this board. Their debut record was a monster. Saw them on that tour, with The Pursuit Of Happiness. Great bill, and SOF were a wall of sound. I liked the 2nd album, Gump, as well, but it wasn't ...
