Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

Looks a lot like the Corbin LP's(although the Corbin LP's have the "correct" horn radius), is is all-maple body or the traditional mahog/maple?

Either way, not bad-looking.

Sleek(I think it was Sleek) put it spot on, we're living the the goddamned golden age of cheap fiddles.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

It's about guitars and the gear-whores that we are.....LMAO...noone gives a shit aboutyour footwear. Post it up! As to the Epi Genesis...basically a Les Paul with a cutaway in the upper bout. I've played a couple...to me it's a decent guitar, fret accessability similar to an SG but the neck joint's ...

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

Snagged a 2003-ish Indiana Tele Custom in red, with a lacquer-finished neck, $60 from a skinny-pant wearing kid. Alder body, maple neck/board...actually not a bad guitar for an import. Toss some CTS pots, a better-quality cap, and some "Gatton" compensated brass saddles, already fitted wit...

Here I am, trying to be "responsible" and not go buying shit unless it's really needed, like a speaker. Then you go off and show us this shit.....aaaaagh! SUPER cheap way for me to get that MX250 I always wanted but couldn't afford at the time(yeah, it's a knockoff...ask if that bothers me).

I'll look more into the EV's and Webers, I appreciate the suggestions....so many different choices and such out there, kinda hard to separate fact from hyperbole at times.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

Sleek, I'm not opposed to spending some $$$ for a GOOD speaker. The Eminence Commonwealth is something I'm leaning towards....hefty sumbitch, and not cheap, but the clarity is there. Was just curious as to speaker reccomendations from others...I've heard some talk abut the EV's. Just realized I'd ty...

..Soooooo....looking for suggestions on a replacement(singular since I'm looking to revert back to the original 112 cab). The Eminence Commonwealths are outstanding speakers, supposedly the equivalent or slightly better in terms of clarity to the old JBL D-120's...but they're pricey bastards, hard t...

Wouldn't you know it, I have a piece of 1/8" Baltic birch cut just for that...LOL. Still sounds a bit compressed/muddy, I really DO believe it's the speakers. Not that they're BAD, but while they sound great with the Strat as I said, man it just goes to hell with the Lesters with humbuckers...h...

Picked up a minty-fresh Tubescreamer, still in the wrapped box..pawn-shop crawl for $55. ModTone chromatic tuner....$75 new from my favorite independent retailer. Had an SG project fall into my lap(freebie from someone who lost interest). Routed for a single bridge humbucker, wraptail bridge...single volume and tone controls. Mahogany body/maple bolt-neck(which I prefer on an SG anyhow....stronger joint that a traditional set-neck). Considered a Pigtail/Badas...

Been stirring the idea of peddling the SVK Tele Thinline/Deluxe, an Epi 335 sounds good....the GFS Professional KMZ's are pretty damned teets(a friend put a set in his GT build, they have the vintage mojo down pretty good), those with some braided wire and CTS's with PIO's and a Tusq nut should be g...

Haven't tried one of these Melody Makers..but hell, 2 p90's? It's a LP Special with a single volume/tone and a goofy pickguard with a top-mount jack...aesthetics aside, it should be a screamer. Under $500? Snap it up and be happy...put it into a good amp, MAYBE toss a fuzztone (Modtone's Buzz Boy is...

What's a "de-mud mod?" A buddy turned me on to this one...came from several different forums. There are several variations, but this one is the simplest and least invasive(one entails using what amounts to a VariTone switch from an ES-355 with several caps and resistors). Basically.....yo...

Glad you like it! The neck profile on this...man, it's REALLY reminiscent of a slim-taper SG to be honest. Super-fast neck.....my Standard feels like a tree with frets by comparison(it has a '59 profile). Pretty comfortable, though...VERY resonant, can feel the strings vibrate through the neck&b...

Manning brought a lot of pride to the organization, and to the city(remember Jeff George? YIKES). BUT.....14 years, and only ONE Lombardi Trophy to show for it? *whistles* Thumbs-up on the Buddy Blaze guitar.....I'm not on the 7-string bandwagon, but that's one hell of a nice-looking instrument!

Not musical, but related to the newest LP Custom project....a goddamned orbital sander. Sanding pore-filler and primer by hand SUCKS!
