Re: Best 'heavier direction' CD

Rush, "Counterparts." The band felt the heat from grunge and remembered it had Alex. Testament, "Low." After the previous shit shows they came back with James Murphy in for Alex and Jon Dette replacing that incompetent drummer. Overkill, "Ironbound." Wiped the bad taste...

Yep, the same. He only did one album but it was a monster.

You would be wrong.
1) Not the first time
2) I'm glad.

One more: Testament with Lombardo. Wonder what happened there.

Nevermore with Tim Calvert. He was the reason "Dreaming Neon Black" is so different from other Nevermore records. Motorhead with Wurzel. With just Phil it was so repetitive. Witchery with Legion on vocals. Doubt anyone here knows what I'm talking about Aldious with Rami on vocals. x10. x100

Nope but they wouldn't try, either.

I saw a TikTok video of Ness performing "Story of my Life" on an acoustic guitar and man, the cancer fight took a lot out of him. He looked old and frail. Can't believe he's touring.

The OC is the birthplace of thrash and home to many punk bands. It has no glam history. Move this shit north.

Something is seriously wrong in the band right down to the fact that Glenn ditched Samantha Motherf*ckin' Fox to sleep with their manager, basically an older and uglier version of Fox.... before that they used to get along. Or so it seemed. Well given Sam Fox is a lesbian the decision was likely ma...

Am l reading this thread right? Most of you poster’s were the old heads at a show back in the late 90’s? I feel the OP meant at a concert LATELY. Didn’t know the 70 and over crew was reporting in. It can be any time, decade, or age. All that matters is the first time you looked at the crowd and rea...

The first time you felt old at a concert?

What was the first show you looked around at the crowd and thought, "fuck, I'm the oldest one here?" For me it was a Live concert at a small New England university around 94. This was before "Throwing Copper" blew up. I'd been a fan since "Mental Jewelry." I was only in...

I grew up in Rhode Island and must've seen Extreme at The Living Room 20 or 30 times before they got signed. When their first album came out, me and my friends knew every song on it.

Beat me to it. Li-Sa X has been on YouTube now for several years and has earned shout outs from Marty Friedman and Paul Gilbert. A few years back, she did a cover of the Vai/Orianthi duet "Highly Strung" with Yuki of D_Drive, an instrumental band in the same vein as Friedman. https://www.y...

Has anyone given her a listen? For those you don't know, she's the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. In between acting gigs she sings what is called folk music, but I don't hear it. It just sounds like soft pop. But I will give her credit for writing your own music and lyrics. https://www.you...

Band departures met with jubilation by fans

Who quit their band and fans said thank God in unison? Could be for any reason. Jeff Loomis bailing on Arch Enemy was met with overwhelming approval by fans who felt he was wasting his talent in that band. On the flipside, Anette Olzon's departure from Nightwish was also met with massive approval, b...

Bands where no one are friends

It was common knowledge that the four members of Slayer were not exactly buddy buddy offstage, and Kerry's recent interview with Rolling Stone is only cementing that. There was no animosity, except maybe for Lombardo, they just had nothing to do with each other outside of work. So what other bands a...

He was fired, but Ron McGovney has said he never regrets losing the Metallica gig to Cliff.

ALl things considered, I'd say Chris DeGarmo has no regrets about leaving the clusterfuck that Queensryche became.

I bet Matt Barlow is glad he left Iced Earth.
