I'd be down to hear them do Tooth and Nail. Good album opener. And it'd have some subtle irony for Pilson.

So Crue is gonna be trying to be Kane Brown or some awful sounding shit? Tommy Lee adding some twang to Get Naked? Maybe an acoustic, drawled-out version of Brandon to finally get that song the love it deserves?

This right here! I’ve been way into Texas Country/Red Dirt for about a decade now. Add Shane Smith and the Saints and Cody Jinx to the above list (and remove Kolby Cooper) and you have much of my regular rotation. Absolutely this. Some great artists here. I'd also add Jamie Lin Wilson, Courtney Pat...

I love classic and outlaw country: Waylon, Haggard, Willie, Johnny, George, Kris, Don Williams, Ed Bruce, Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Dolly, Buck Owens, Hank, Lefty, et. al. A lot of the classic duets are great too: George/Tammy, Porter/Dolly, Conway/Loretta, etc. Bro Country I can't stand though....

Really sucks. I'm a big BBS fan and by all accounts he seemed like a really wonderful guy. Did a lot for children's cancer research/treatment/fundraising in the ATL area. His daughter had cancer when she was real little. A big chunk (in some cases, all) of the band's earnings over the years from M&a...

New Judas Priest Single - Serpent and the King
Damn! Not the greatest chorus, but everything else cooks. Was this a leftover track from the Painkiller sessions, studio trickery, AI, or can Halford really still pull this off once in awhile? He sounds 30 years younger here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HGCbuSKIeM Based on the songs released so...

Any love for this record? I've always dug it. Then a couple years ago I got to interview the producer, Roger Probert (for a completely different thing, he works in the elevator industry) and we got to chatting about the album and his work and he's a hilarious old British guy...the kind you'd love to...

Re: Culture Club’s “The Best Of Culture Club” - my review
Not a fan of all their music, or even some of their hits, but they definitely have their share of great songs. Boy George could flat out write a good pop song and had/has a great voice.

Recommend Some Good Making-Of Type Books
Tom Werman's new book was mentioned in the Jeff Pilson thread, and that got me thinking. What are some good behind-the-scenes/making-of-style books about albums or tours? Whether written by the artists or producers, doesn't matter. Whether it's about the actual writing/recording process or the fun &...

Re: Jeff Pilson Slams Don Dokken Claim, "Desperate and Weak"
I’ve listened to a lot of Pilson interviews. He’s very intelligent and levelheaded. If he says greed and ego got in the way of Dokken’s success, then I believe him. Don says drugs hurt the cause, and he would be right about that too. I hope for one last album or tour but the odds look bad after thi...

Re: Jeff Pilson Slams Don Dokken Claim, "Desperate and Weak"
Jeff’s an articulate and well reasoned guy. Too bad he’s wasted in Foreigner. It's a money maker for him though. Probably a pretty sizeable one too. They still draw big crowds and he's been with them for what, 20 years now? On top of that, he's got a bunch of side gigs: A handful of albums with him...

Re: Jeff Pilson Slams Don Dokken Claim, "Desperate and Weak"
Probably the closest you'll ever hear Jeff get almost angry or talk the tiniest amount of shit :D But he's right. Why Don keeps being a bitter old curmudgeon makes no sense, unless he's trying to drum up a little attention for his new album (which is actually quite good), before his next tour. Eithe...

Not a fan of that particular song but most of their other hits were great. Say what you want about how flamboyant and over the top Boy George was/is, the dude could sure write a pop song. Great voice too. Still sounds good today, even with a lower/gruffer register.

Agree with most of what has been said here. I watched it not expecting much other than the same old bullshit, but I'm admittedly a sucker for awards shows. I dunno why. I couldn't care less about celeb gossip, and I haven't seen 95% of the movies and shows that are nominated on the Emmys, Golden Glo...

Really cool show. Agreed on the audio quality...sounds like someone had their hand in front of the mic or something, but you can tell the performance was great. Those dudes are all excellent players. Kip's maintained his voice well, too.

Re: Songs that mention other artists?
Steel Panther - Death to All But Metal mentioned above is a great example.
First one I thought of though was Molly Hatchet - Gator Country. They sing about Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, Dickie Betts, Elvin Bishop, Marshall Tucker Band, and The Outlaws all in that song.

New Revolution Saints and End Machine Singles
These slipped under my radar, just discovered them the other day. New stuff from forthcoming albums from both these bands. Assuming the videos were shot fairly recently, it's good to see Pilson up and about again as he played most of the summer/fall Foreigner tours from a chair after a back injury. ...

New Saxon Album - Hell, Fire and Damnation
Released yesterday. Gave it a spin last night. First impression = another really good album from these guys. Some of the lyrics are a little cringey, but whatever. Music is good. Solid guitar work and solos from Brian Tatler (of Diamond Head fame.) Biff sounds great as usual. Kickass cover art, too....

Re: Poison: Were They Really That Bad?
Their music is cotton candy, all sugar and no filling but it worked for them and their bank and spank accounts. Not sure if a truer description of Poison exists. Well done. They are what they are - a fun live band. I've seen them 6 or 7 times on various package tours over the years and they always ...

Re: Unveiling the Concept: KISS's "Animalize" and "Asylum" as Parts One and Two of a Rock Odyssey
It's a bit of a stretch, though I can see where the theory comes from. It might be more accurate, however, to say that Animalize and Asylum are basically Paul Stanley solo albums because Gene didn't give a fuck about making music at the time. That being said, the best tracks from each record would ...

Re: Great time to leave ur negative Yelp reviews!!!
Nobody cares about Yelp anymore. Even among the review sites, that one is the least important. People get "compensated" to leave reviews as well -- even being given the verbatim review to just copy and paste -- so it's hard to put much stock in review sites unless it's somebody you ...
