Re: Alex Van Halen Is selling his gear....and stuff
Some descendent will sell off the demos "as is" long after most Van Halen nerds who'd care about 'em are dead. Just wait for Wolf to pilfer them for songs that can be credited "Van Halen - Van Halen - Van Halen" because he will change some words in them. Change a word, get a thi...

I never liked Power Windows, but replace it with Counterparts and you have a solid run.skeptic555 wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 2:57 pm Power Windows

I stand by it.
I'd also add the underrated Test For Echo, better than HYF if you ask me.

Metallica, Sabbath, VH and Cooper are all great choices.
Not mentioned yet: Queensryche: Warning to Empire.
A different choice of Depeche Mode: MFTM, Violator, Songs of Faith and Devotion, Ultra.

I've been to Gröna Lund, but what's the deal with the gigs there? Do they cost extra or are they free for who come to the amusement park? Most locals buy a season ticket for like SEK 400, then all gigs are included. But if you pay the regular entrance fee SEK 100 the show is included. But apparentl...

He's clearly too sick to have remained with SR. Im sure he is still in love with Snake and company but he can't even leave the house :D :D :D :D On another note, that song has always been super cringey. Not that the rest of their catalog isn't, but to hear a bunch of guys from Sweden sing about Nat...

Re: Alice Cooper is playing high school gyms now?
As good as the record was, the Born Again tour was a legendary disaster that served as a tableau for Spinal Tap and a catalyst for a DP MK II reunion. Some sources say the DP reunion was already a go when Gillan signed up for Sabbath. Gillan and Paice had to wait for the others to finish up with Ra...

That was cool and Europe kicked ass. Couldn't believe it when they kicked off with two of my favorite deep cuts On Broken Wings and Seven Doors Hotel and then went into one of their biggest hits Rock the Night. Was close to the stage and saw how they were having fun, even Norum who often looks like ...

Re: Alice Cooper is playing high school gyms now?
Valid point, in five years all these nostalgia acts will be dead. Eagles, Coop, Stones, Priest, enjoy it while you can. Either that or they’ll be all scabs and sons of the main guy. Don't count on it. The Stones are still touring and the only exception I can think of, a huge band that stopped witho...

Maybe so but he's fucking Biff Byford so I'm cool with it. Better than trying to screech notes he can't reach... Isn’t he a total deadbeat dad? Yes, Biff had 2 kids and was married and divorced when he was between 15 and 20 years old. The kids must be in their mid 50s now. Think someone here mentio...

Pretty Maids. Pandemonium (2010) and Motherland (2013) specifically. I thought their 80s and 90s stuff sucked so I wrote them off until recently. I will give them a listen. I, too, thought they sucked Wow. Someone who thinks Future World and RH&H suck but Pandemonium and Motherland are great, t...

Speaking of ex-Skid Row singers, Erik Grönwall got up on stage and sang Cherokee with Europe in Stockholm yesterday Thursday. Europe were great by the way, they are usually good live but this was the best of the 5 shows I saw in the last 10 years. Local band so they play here a lot

Re: "Ride The Wind" - Was this absolute peak Poison?
One of my favourite Poison songs. Flesh and Blood is their most consistent album overall. Agree. Can't believe how huge they must have been in the US. F&B was their peak in Europe too, Unskinny Bop got quite some rotation on MTV and Every Rose was a hit before that but they never made it bigger...

Tokyo Road
Livin' on a Prayer
You Give Love a Bad Name
Lay Your Hands on Me
Born to Be My Baby
Bad Medicine
Keep the Faith
Dry County

Why would you want to see such a previously virile and potent band full of wild feral energy reduced to this? Seriously. They sound like absolute dogshit, the stage is boring, corporate, dated, the setlist is utterly predictable, ticket prices are insane, what's left of the band are reduced to a sh...

The 80s weren't all that great. Instead of ludes and free love, we got the War on Drugs and AIDS. Fuck Reagan. Add to that the Cold War in full swing and the post- Harrisburg/ Chornobyl nuclear panic. Not that great a decade but at least the economy was better than in the 70s. That said, those were...
