Re: Behind The Music Returning! Wolfgang VH Episode…
Just watched the episode with WVH, gotta say, and I never saw the Taylor Hawkins tribute - Wolf fucking nails Hot For Teacher. Unbelievable technique and feel for Ed's guitar parts. I'm probably the only one here who will praise Wolf, but shit - Props to him.

Hard Rock/Metal drummers, not the obvious pop drummers like Collins or Henley.

Re: Adam Bomb Appreciation Thread
Many a day did my small-town teenage self pose in the mirror playing most the TKO album. "I Wanna Fight" was my jam. I was probably one of only two people in my little town who had even heard of TKO and Adam Bomb. Good stuff.

Phil Rudd's Solo Album/Drummers Making Solo Albums
Just revisiting Phil Rudd's solo album, Head Job, and it got me thinking - Besides the obvious Dave Grohl, who was actually successful in putting out a solo album after being a Hard Rock/Metal band drummer? History is littered with the Peter Criss' and Tommy Lees, who just couldn't get shit together...

Re: Anyone else watch the Bon Jovi doc on Hulu?
I thought it was good, maybe a bit too long - There's some unnecessary stuff in there. I did find it fascinating that his first band was more of a blue-eyed soul cover band - No Hard Rock roots at all. He did not come up in Heavy Metal, but rather it basically came to him in that particular 80's MTV...

Not a great drummer myself, but give me a 4/4 or 2/4 beat band any day of the week and I would have fun.
Always thought I could do a great job with Drive By Truckers.

Re: DUMB & DUMBER ... Who are the Dumbest musicians in rock n' roll?
I have to say, from even being in bands through my teenage years, the brightest bulbs on the planet are not in rock/metal. In general, it's not a great area for geniuses. I know there are some outliers, but there are a lot of peeps with uneducated backgrounds - Especially for those musicians who rea...

Going to Dead & Co at the Sphere this summer. They totally focus on the proper sound and visuals. What will be interesting is how they will fit the entire band on that little stage - 2 drummers, keyboards, etc.

Priest always had a mix of clunkers and great songs on every album - They're more of a song band to me than an album band.

Re: Is the hate for Priest’s Turbo really justified??
That was a time when established bands were swinging for MTV fame. But, by that point, Priest were older than the up and coming hair bands. No one really wanted to see a bunch of old guys prancing around the stage with hairspray and new sing-songy choruses. That being said, I thought Turbo Lover was...

That's as close to Slayer as you're gonna get. I'm actually shocked at how close they got. They could easily play Slayer covers on the road - Basically, resurrecting Slayer, Kerry's goal all along.

I remember an 80's Cult opening for Billy Idol. The band starts playing the opening song, and Ian walks out onstage smoking a cigarette like he just woke up and was walking into his kitchen or something, and then casually flicks his cigarette way up into the air right before the first line. Total ro...

Actually didn't like them much as the original band and albums. Saw them twice and then decided that they REALLY sucked. Probably the worst band I saw in the 90's. They were basically shoe-gazers. However, as an older gent I have been exploring them a bit more now and I really like the off-formula s...

I remember every European metal mag in the 80's (Kerrang, etc.) always had at least one article on Marillion.....But, after just taking a dive into them, they aren't metal by any stretch of the imagination. I kinda like Geddy's new show on Hulu, Are Bass Players Human Too? It's sort of like an Anthony Bordain show where instead of visiting chefs, he's visiting bass players. Not sure why he would want to visit Hole's bass player, especially after she says she hasn't picked up a bass in 'decades'. Maybe ...

I always think of Riley as a Matt Sorum type tho. The PRO you bring in to replace your personality-filled fuckup original guy...stable and reliable, but not the guy everyone remembers. That builds a resume. Great comparison. Yeah, sort of like a recording session guy who's the only one who shows up...

Really interesting reading up on his history. He really fell into LA bands right at their prime - Three bands in a row that achieved some modicum of success during the high-flying 80's: Keel, WASP, LA Guns. Not monstrous-monstrous names, but definitely milestone names from that era. I remember all t...

I agree with some of the generic pop metal song comments. I love how they can't get enough Michael Wagener producing name dropping in the interviews. The singer even said, "Master of Puppets" Micheal Wagener!!!!!!.....And, uh, I think he might have produced Motley Crue's first too."
