Nicko and Adrian Smith also. Though I am not sure if Dennis Straton (or even Clive Burr) were actually partners or if at that point it was just Harris/Murray

Re: Lead singers who didn't write shite or very little.

Geddy Lee of Rush and Tom Araya of Slayer come to mind. Not a Slayer fan….who wrote the lyrics? Mostly King and Hanneman on the early albums. Araya wrote a big chunk of lyrics from South of Heaven onwards, mostly in songs where the music was written by Hanneman. Araya (and Hanemann) lyrics were usu...

Re: What is your middle album by a group you enjoy?

Slayer has 11 (not counting Undisputed Attitude), so Divine Intervention at number 6
Megadeth has 16, so its either number 8 (Youthanasia) or 9 (Dystopia)
Maiden has 19. so...No Prayer for the Dying (number 10)
Motley has 9...Girls would be number 5

A lot of drugs and alcohol. Some vandalism. Not a lot a sex.
Never really made money until he got the Slayer gig in his mid 40s.

Re: CLASSIC AMERICAN DEATH METAL

Death, then Cannibal (mostly with Fisher), Morbid Angel and Obituary. I am a fan of those bands. Immolation and Incantation I like in small doses. Never got into Suffocation, Deicide and Malevolent Creation, although I own some of their albums. Atheist I liked a lot but I haven't heard an album in a...

Meh. I liked the New Jersey deluxe with the demos, extra tracks and the videos. But that was more than a decade ago, they should've done Slippery and the other albums then.

Interesting. Holt looks like a fun and reasonably smart guy so could be a worthy read. Except for Mustaine, Ellefson and Scott Ian I don't recall a lot of memoirs from thrash musicians

Re: PRO SHOT - Blaze’s last show with Maiden , Argentina 1998

After finally getting around to listening to the first Wolfsbane album, it would have made more sense if Blaze joined Van Halen and Cherone joined Maiden Yeah, he has moments in Wolfsbane in which he sounds A LOT like Roth. I am a big fan of The X Factor and Virtual XI has its moments, but live eve...

Re: Great article on the Maiden X Factor disaster

I think incompetence is more the reason than self-sabotage. Maiden/Harris are good at some things, but, the lack of Birch's, Dickinson's (and maybe Smallwoods) brain involvement in this era are dramatically visible to see. As far as the vocals go - not a chance. If you took any of Maiden's big albu...

Re: Great article on the Maiden X Factor disaster

You can’t read that article and not come away with the conclusion that some or all of them wanted Blaze to not work out. Either consciously or at least in the back of their mind. They did everything they could to lessen the quality of the record/live show. No producer, no production on the vocals, ...

Re: Great article on the Maiden X Factor disaster

Great article, that site is really good. I love The X Factor, but I see how everything about it (the production, choosing Blaze, the change in the song writing with the long plodding songs, the imagery, the overall depressing vibe) conspired against whatever chance they had at commercial success. An...

Really good experience. You can find basically anything and the prices are usually decent even for rare items. Never had a problem with sellers from all over the world.

Pretty good. Interesting setlist, although very thin on the early stuff. 213 is a cool deep cut.
