The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac almost feel too obvious.

If these things happen in threes, Cat Stevens and Kate Bush might not want to leave the house this week.
Neither one probably does anyway.

Re: When you lost interest in a favorite band
Prefab Sprout is my favourite band, but I was staring to lose interest in the early 00's, when the singer fired the rest of the band and made the last two records pretty much on his own. My first exposure to Prefab Sprout was "hot dog, jumping frog" when that was a hit. Then years later, ...

3 Sides of the Coin. This podcast is annoying.
I've had this suggested on my YouTube feed lately. They have some interesting guests and topics, but this is how it seems to go: One of the hosts asks a question that's more of a statement to repeat some nugget of fan lore that's been told a million times over the years. The guest responds with a b...

Re: How do you remember Hysteria?
Album sold a shitload but apparently the Sludge crowd didn't buy it. Lol, fucking ridiculous. Because the people that bought it weren't generally rock fans. Appetite was bought mostly by people who already liked rock / metal, or it got them into the scene. Slippery / New Jersey crossed more into th...

When did we agree to pack our bags and move into this fantasy world in which Hysteria did nothing for Def Leppard's "legacy," was "erased from existence" and forgotten about except for "Sugar"?

Re: Worst late night talk show host from 1990- 2025 ?
People forget this, but Chevy was the reason a green Conan O'Brien succeeded. Their two shows debuted weeks apart and Conan looked a million times better by comparison. How so? They weren't in competition with each other (different time slots) I'm sure you'll recall... this was back when we didn't ...

I know it's popular to shit on Fallon, but the guy is talented. He was at his best in the late-night slot. He doesn't seem to have the right producers now. His Neil Young impression is fantastic. Carson Daly somehow blanded his way to the top. Just nothing to offer. Magic Johnson was spectacularly ...

Dont Look Back in Anger is one of the most offensively bad songs I've ever heard. Accurate assessment. Concur. Yeah I agree with that assessment as well. But that is much more preferable to Oasis who I absolutely despise. WTF does that even mean? Stand for something? Funny. I always thought Oasis was a band who had nothing to say. Most of their lyrics are just words that "s...

Re: The original Stevei Albini mix of "Heart-Shaped Box"
There's a little more to it than that. One of the comments under the video sums it up pretty well... The two main differences are with the electric guitars and the lead vocal. For the electric guitar: so, there are two tracks. On Steve's mix, he has them together in the mix, more in the center. On ...

Kind of apples to oranges with the music styles here... Agreed. Feels weird to compare the two. It's not we're talking about Roxy Blue and XYZ. I saw Hall and Oates about a decade ago and Tears for Fears was opening, so clearly Hall and Oates had way more hits. I remember thinking this was a perfec...

Yes and no. It's not as good as the other Bon Jovi albums of the '80s. But you grow to appreciate it more when you miss that metal influence the band left behind in the '90s.

I noticed years ago that girls in particular would clear their friends list periodically. Nothing dramatic. Just people who moved away or no longer socialized with them.

The original Stevei Albini mix of "Heart-Shaped Box"
Most of us know the story. Steve Albini produced In Utero, but the record company had another producer, Scott Litt, clean up the two singles ("Heart-Shaped Box" and "All Apologies") to sound more radio-friendly. Here's the original Albini mix of Heart-Shaped Box: https://www.you...

The "life" will get sucked out of society long before the robot uprising. The latest AI-generated videos look ridiculously lifelike. Soon, entire movies and TV shows will be created via "prompt" - no actors, cameras or sets required. Future generations will search online for the...

I kinda wonder about Soul Asylum. Did they do something to fuck things up? Had a huge album, massive hype for the follow-up, then it suddenly ended after the "Misery" single. The next album got ZERO MTV play. Could only see their videos on The Box (a phone-in video channel) at that point.

Bon Jovi for a longer time, but GNR - hotter at their peak. That's a simplified, but accurate way to look at it. Slippery was magic. Appetite was magic too, but way more intense. Bon Jovi managed success better and was more consistent over the long haul. Jon getting a Jennifer Aniston haircut durin...
