Re: Anything (music-related) we can ALL agree on? (...or most of us)

How about the first Badlands album? I don't know if it's universally liked here, but it's got to be close. I've been posting here for 25 years (which boggles my mind, but that's a whole different story) and can't recall this album ever getting any kind of significant hate. I like it, but I think it...

Does anyone like Nitro? I've been here for 20 years and I don't remember anyone ever saying they were good.

Foxy Brown (1974) - 6/10

Not as good as Coffy, but still worth watching for the amazing 70s outfits and a cool funk soundtrack.

Why no more famous groupies?

Starting in the late 60s and early 70s, you had these famous women like Pamela Des Barres, Sweet Connie, Cynthia Plaster Caster or Sable Starr. I can't really think of any really famous groupies since the 80s. What's the reason for that?

Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry For my money, a classic. Belongs in the top 10 of every 80's hard rock/metal list. I think the impulse is to always blame Tom Werman, as evidenced by our ABTW credo above the door, but I think the band just sounded like shit. And French/Ojeda get shit but they tru...

They came up with good riffs. In the solo department they were pretty standard.

Appetite for Destruction - You're Crazy
You're crazy.

Think About You is the stinker.
Anything goes.
You're Crazy blows. Can't believe they felt the need to do another version for version. Anything Goes is okay. Works well within the flow of the album.

Rollerball (1975) - 4/10

What a long-winded, dull movie. The classical music felt like a real forced attempt to make things appear dramatic.

Anyone else think Lillian Axe's Psychoschizophrenia is a masterpiece?

This band is not talked about all that much on here. Their first few albums had some great days, but were the typical 80s glam tunes. Psychoschizophrenia is something else. I don't know know any comparable bands. There's not a weak song on it, it's all killer no filler.

Re: Revisiting Yngwie's Album with Ripper Owens - Perpetaul Flame

I remember this one coming out and listening to a few tracks. I was not impressed. Yngwie is the kind of artist with a long career and a few good tunes without a real killer album. Over the years he became increasingly generic. I lost interest a long time ago.

My favourite CCR album is Cosmo's Factory. However, I absolutely loathe Ooby Dooby. What a sorry excuse for a song that is.
