Re: Load is awesome!

Load and Reload are fine for what they are - middle-of-the-road “gateway to hard rock” albums for kids getting in rock and roll and hardcore Metallica fans. Not worth of any critical acclaim, but they get the job done.

Kind of like 70s Kiss, except a few of the songs are good.

They have two songs - some festival dates and maybe a show or two in New York has gotta cover the demand from TS IN 2025.

Sell all that shit.
Buy a quad cortex/helix/headrush.
Join a band that plays casinos/nicer bars/private events.
Enjoy playing for the sake of still playing.
Have fun, meet people, enjoy your life.

Re: Ratt and MTV

I Want a Woman is certainly one of the big reasons "Hair Metal" went by way of the 8-track tape. Nirvana was the final nail, but without Poison and Warrant kicking their legs in unison like the Rockettes and once respectable bands like RATT coming out with this drivel, Nirvana may not hav...

Re: Natural talent vs. hours of practice

I think it's more either/or.

You have guys like Paul Gilbert that are very schooled and got where they got from hours of disciplined study (and probably autism).

Then you have guys like Ed that are are just freaks, maybe come from a musical family and just pick it up (and probably autism).

Great verse, tuneless NIN-sounding chorus. Guitars sound like some parts were recorded years after others.

Mess of a song. 4/10.

If we're gonna talk Van Halen, the glaringly terrible career decision is Ed not cutting an instrumental album in the mid eighties.

There was never a bigger demand that was not met in the history of rock and roll.

Could have cut the thing in a week at 5150 and just printed money.

Kind of apples to oranges with the music styles here... Agreed. Feels weird to compare the two. It's not we're talking about Roxy Blue and XYZ.
