I wear a 36 DDD, and while that is not huge, I did try the padded straps. They were ok, but I didn't really see any difference in the comfort level.

I get the majority of my bras at Lane Bryant. They seem to fit bigger cup sizes better than what can be found at VS or Fredericks.

The Cacique line from Lane Bryant is also really nice for us larger busted ladies. They have some really pretty styles, and most in the $40 range.

I wouldn't say I particularly like the taste of it, unless it's super sweet and he eats lots of fruit (diet plays a major role).
