Re: Queensryche - Gonna Get Close To You (1986)
Don't remember ever hearing it on the radio, but it was songs like this that made them stand out. It was dark, different and just plain cool. That whole album was a massive step up from Warning, True, but there were much more interesting dark, different, and cool songs on this album that would have...

Re: Who was the best NU-METAL (pu-metal) band?
The only one of those bands that I was a fan of was the Deftones - particularly their 2nd & 3rd albums. I could stomach some of System of a Down’s music, but it hasn’t really aged well, with me. They did put on a hell of a live show, though. The rest of the Korn Bizkits had and have no appeal fo...

All of those multi-platinum Keel, Black n’ Blue, Gypsy Rose, House of Lords, EZO, Wendy O Williams, & Silent Rage albums speak for themselves.

Re: Hard to find albums on vinyl
Vinyl was pressed less and less starting in the early 90s. Bands that didn’t take off only had their first run printed so they’re usually rare EUR. Grunge is notoriously hard to find on vinyl. Pearl Jam's Ten is ridiculously expensive, and I am not even sure if Badmotorfinger and Dirt came out on v...

He made a lot of great, groundbreaking music, in his own bands, and in his production work with other artists.
Rock n’ Roll in our time wouldn’t have been the same or nearly as good without him, for my ears.

They lacked in the song department and image department.
And, they were DAMN lucky to have been able to release four major label albums.

Re: How much do touring musicians get paid?
I wonder what JBJ pays Phil X and is it (a lot) more than the bass player dude? Alec Jon Such is far easier to replace than Richie and actually adds a new element and spark, which makes me curious. I know they're actual 'bands members' now and not 'touring musicians', but still. They're not really ...

For my ears, both Quiet Riot & Keel were equally just ok.

Re: Detonator is Ratt's underappreciated MASTERPIECE
I remember hearing it and liking it on first listen but also feeling like it had the air of a band disintegrating. The lack of 8th-note-riff metal stuff already said to me that Robbin must have been fading. Before I even knew, I suspected the exact problem it was. Robbin’s diminishing involvement i...

Re: Detonator is Ratt's underappreciated MASTERPIECE
Every album from the EP -> Dancing Undercover does it far more for me.
I don’t find Detonator to be either under appreciated or a masterpiece. I think that Reach For the Sky mostly blows, also.
The only thing they did that was worthwhile for my ears after that was “Nobody Rides For Free.”
