Re: We Are The World documentary on Netflix
Cool documentary, but I came away from it thinking about how "Do They Know It's Christmas?" was a hundred times better. "We Are The World" was at least a little better than the cringey Canadian effort, "Tears Are Not Enough". If anybody is curious about how Neil Young, ...

The band sounds good. MA would have been better, especially with the backing vocals, but Wolf was really solid.

Re: ROCK on the Spectrum
Gary Numan claims he was diagnosed as being on the spectrum. Some have speculated that Alan Wilson of Canned Heat could have been too.
Having said that, most of us here are probably not qualified to determine who may or may not be on the spectrum.

Re: Legacy acts. No new material vs. Mediocre material (Poll)
This is case by case for me. If GN’R are gonna put out…not their best material and play it live, but they’re playing 3 hour sets including what everyone came to hear, fine, fair enough. They’re clearly not doing it for money or for their health. If RHCP are gonna put out…not their best material and...

Re: Genesis - The lamb lies down on broadway - LIVE in NYC 1978
That's Peter Gabriel solo, not Genesis. He left in '75, I think. I think it was the only old Genesis song he did on the Scratch tour. The vocals are great, I agree. Always wished that he added a Genesis song or two to his live shows later on in his career. Guess his solo catalog was strong enough wi...

Re: Bands whose first gigs were at huge venues.
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young at Woodstock. Their first major public gig was on August 16, 1969, at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago, with Joni Mitchell as their opening act. They mentioned they were going to someplace called Woodstock the next day, but that they had no idea where it was. That's ...

The Band at Winterland. Yes, they were Dylan's band earlier, but this was their first show where they weren't a backing band.

Re: PYROMANIA 40TH ANNIVERSARY BOX SET
I bought a deluxe 2-CD version ten years ago, disc 2 has the LA Forum show, which is great. This version is a bit too much, that Dortmund show only has a short set and I don't feel the need to listen to anything beyond that 11th song song I've never heard before. I think you're right it being a bit...

Mick Ralphs is one of my favorite guitarists. Tasteful solos. Kind of a "less is more" approach to playing guitar.

Songs for the Deaf, Death by Sexy, The Suburbs, Blak and Blu, Ceremonials, Post Pop Depression, Below the Belt, and Snakes & Arrows are good. Same with the new Stones album.

Hot take - You can feel bad for a bunch of kids that died at a music festival and still think Netanyahu & the IDF are genocidal pieces of shit. They aren't mutually exclusive opinions.. Yeah, but did Bono include the kids in Gaza in his comments? He's a bit naive if he didn't think this would g...

Both have already been mentioned: "I Think I'm Going Bald" and "Roll the Bones". I saw the Roll the Bones tour and it was during the title track that I took a piss and got myself another beer. A lot of fans seemed to be doing the same. What's wrong with the RTB title track? Othe...

Another obvious one, their biggest record was about how they all hated each other because they were all screwing each other. Stevie Nicks had zero talent but she fucked the right people to help get her songs written. See also Courtney Love and Sheryl Crow. Definitely agree about Courtney Love. Disa...

Re: Is the hate for Priest’s Turbo really justified??
SFV is one of the best metal albums of all time. (I don't like British Steel quite as much, but it is also a classic.) Turbo isn't nearly as good, and it isn't as good as the album that came before right it, Defenders of the Faith . Combine that with the costume changes - less leather and studs and...

I've heard that too, but it couldn't have been that bad because when Steve Winwood asked Clapton if Baker could join in Blind Faith, he agreed to it. This would have been only a couple of months after Cream broke up.

He was sacked. And he only got the job back because they sacked Topper Headon for being strung out on scag. Absolutely, and he didn’t last long after that, either. Fortunately for him the second time. Chimes was replaced by a drum machine on Cut the Crap , so he managed to avoid being on one of the...

Not sure if he quit or was fired, but Terry Chimes left the Clash after their first album, only to rejoin them for the Combat Rock tour. Don't know if he regretted it or not, but he would have missed out any royalties he might have gotten for their most successful releases.

Culture Club is one of my least favorite early 80s British acts. Never thought they were really doing anything very original, whether musically or with their image. "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" was alright, but I hated "Karma Chameleon" from the first listen. It ranks very low...
