Re: Amazing albums with a garbage tune
Let It Be Dig It is a pile of shite throwaway that should've been left on the cutting room floor I'm a huge Beatles fan, and I think you're right about that. Aside from the different (better) mix, the other reason I prefer Let It Be... Naked to the original is that "Dig It" is nowhere to ...

Great call. The only bad song on the album. Maybe it would have worked better as an instrumental?

Re: Chuck Berry - the nastiest rock star of all?
My dad told me that his dad, my grandfather, would always go on unprovoked rants in the 50s and 60s about how terrible rock and roll music was. (One of his favorite Sunday dinner stunts was to threaten not to allow the family to watch the Ed Sullivan Show if anyone "controversial" was goin...

Re: What LIVE Albums Are Live, Start to Finish?
DP - MiJ I don't think that Jimis live stuff got fixed, did it? Made in Japan was the first one that came to mind. Live perfection. Live at Winterland and Band of Gypsys sound about as live as albums can be. They may have edited the length of some songs or some the banter in between, but I don't th...

Both of them are OK. I'll go with Plant because he's playing in front of an audience.

Re: Great musicians, lousy band
Most of the "super groups" can't write a "hook"........(Chickenfoot, Winery Dogs, Black County Communion, etc., etc......) And I actually think Dee Snider is a much better vocalist, but was limited by the one dimensional style/mediocre songwriting of Twisted Sister. Unless you h...

Re: French/Ojeda - the worst 80s guitarists?
As a few people have already commented, they were up to the job of being the guitarists in Twisted Sister, whether in the studio or live. They may not have been virtuoso guitarists, but Twisted Sister never required that. They were a club band for years before they finally made it big. I don't think...

Cornell. His vocals were more unique, and, as an added bonus, he could write songs and play guitar.

Aerosmith There's an argument to be made for them, if only you based it on that trio of nearly identical, shit awful ballads from Get a Grip . (It would have been excusable if they'd stopped at "Cryin'", but they had to go and add the other two render the rest of the album sackless.) Pump...

Re: <band> would have been huge if <member> didn't die
When I think of musicians who died young, the ones that come to mind were already famous/successful when they checked out. Solo artists were obviously finished, but some of the bands with dead members replaced lost members and remained huge, or turned into something different like Pearl Jam or New O...

Re: What Huge Rock Acts Have Destroyed Their Legacies More - A Poll
Until they reunited, I would have picked GNR . They've managed to redeem themselves, at least as a live act. I'm not picking any of the options. I guess you could argue that could have retired before they hit 40 or 50, but musicians - classical, country, jazz, blues, and now rock - tend to keep goin...

You could make a strong argument for the following: Pink Floyd The Rolling Stones The Beatles Rush Fleetwood Mac Judas Priest Elton John R.E.M Bob Dylan ZZ Top Genesis I might disagree with a few of those, but I could understand why one might make the argument for them. I think like this new version. John's voice is definitely a lot clearer. Don't know why they changed one of the words sung by George. The Paul and George harmonies sound a little different on the first listen, but I should probably give it another listen with better speakers or headphones. This isn...

Re: Worst albums you've ever heard
No Code. Pearl Jam's Monster. They were never the same. Agree. They did some very good music after (especially last year's album). But No Code was truly awful, and it was then end of them as a pop act. Fortunately for them, they had cultivated a Phish-kind-of-thing where live shows were unpredictab...

Re: KISS meets Phantom and Star Wars Holiday Special were released 3 weeks apart in 1978
How much crap were fans supposed to endure in a single month? Did anyone here watch both as they premiered? What was your reaction? I caught most of the Star Wars Holiday Special the only time it was aired. As a six year old Star Wars fan, I was confused. It didn't make any sense. Also remember fee...

Vince and Dave weren't ever known for being great live singers, even when they were in their prime, so watching them struggle live four decades later is exactly what we've come to expect. Klaus was a very talented and powerful vocalist, and managed to keep things at a high level for a long time. I j...

That happens to be right! I was already thinking of possibly my worst music purchase ever when I was buying cassettes: Condition Critical. I never listened to any of them, but apparently the albums that followed were significantly worse.
