Re: Rock Hall of Fame 2024 nominees announced
The only “slam dunk” on that list for me is Oasis. HUGE draw everywhere but the US/Canada. The face of an entire movement: Britpop. Basically what Nirvana is to grunge Oasis is to britpop. The Gallagher brothers are rock n roll through and through, and should have been inducted 5 years ago. If/when ...

Yeah Eddie is why Van Hagar outsold Roth solo... it certainly wasn't the poodle-headed 3rd-division mediocrity they replaced Dave with. Just because Sammy the gaslighter yaps something all the time doesn’t mean it’s true. The actual RIAA numbers tell a different tale when it comes to the sales. htt...

Licorice might be the greatest candy every invented. Seriously... I am in awe when someone doesn't like licorice, and if you don't like Black Licorice, you are clearly racist. My favorite, is Black of course... and I also recently saw an amazing commercial advertising licorice. No, not Twizzlers, n...

If their song that’s in this Chevy commercial is any indication, they do a far better Zeppelin imitation than Greta Van Trustfund: https://www.ispot.tv/ad/2epZ/chevrolet-silverado-adventure-is-everywhere-song-by-rival-sons-t1 I would be more inclined to say they are “inspired” by Zeppelin, nowhere ...

Well, I’ll break from the pack and say that, yes, they are one of the best bands of the ‘10’s. Jay Buchanan is a fucking great singer and Scott Holiday rips on the guitar. Definitely 70’s influenced…some heavy Led Zep inspired stuff but not even in the same realm as GVF. You can’t go wrong with Fera...

Diorama and Young Modern are masterpiece albums, and then you add that they were pretty much exclusively composed by one dude in his late teens/early 20s. This, though I rank Diorama a bit higher but not by much. Saw them in ‘96 opening for the Chili Peppers. Really wished I had seen them in ‘01-‘0...

Back in my day, there was a band of 15 year olds who were actually super fucking talented and evolved into a completely different/artistically brilliant band by the time they were 20, but as teenagers many thought Silverchair sounded a little too much like Pearl Jam and Nirvana and the singer was r...

Sorry, the they were just kids schtick is just that. Three brothers and a friend growing up in an era where everything is documented with video. There is nothing special about this. By the time their first album came out they were about the same age as Eddie Van Halen when VH I came out, Vince and T...

Re: Who believes Greta van Fleet is an "Arena act"?
I was fairly early in the GVF world and enjoyed the first EP for what it was… comfort classic rock. Very familiar and easy to listen to. Saw them live the summer prior to the first full album release and they were good live, talented no doubt (well, excluding the incredibly awkward screecher, haha.)...

In its ongoing idiocy, the likelihood of an MLB season is in definite jeopardy after Manfred’s latest statement. The one sport that could have potentially flourished during this pandemic can’t get out of its own way. Built in social distancing on the field, no consistent huffing and puffing like b-b...

Re: Patriots Cheated Their Way To Victory... Again
I think an ancient Chinese proverb addresses the situation: "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" So the Patriots, caught cheating years ago, presumably still cheat according to a handful of whiny bitches. And the rest of the league just stands around and lets it happen? ...

Cashman says Jeter probably won't play SS for the length of his 4 year deal and will likely end up in the outfield at some point. I love how the media has taken Cashman's comments and turned the words into a negative. You don't have to be an MLB GM to understand that at Jeter's age, being a startin...

The way to handle this is to hire the umps as employees of MLB and bust the union so that the umps have to follow a consistent set of rules and don't have the benefit of tenure. Great job by Minnesota and I'm glad he won't wind up in Boston or New York. But I do have to question extending a catcher for 8 years, as good a hitter as he is. My Metal Health tape is older than him. He won't even be 27 til mid-April. I think it is a safe risk for the Twins. He could always DH or...

I refuse to believe the Patriots are the only team to undertake covert spying. It seems ludicrous to think so. I'm not even much of a football fan, but two quick observations: (1) Last I checked football was a "team" sport. More so than many other sports, these guys rely on each other to succeed. If Brady helps lead his team into field goal territory, and kicks a field goal, what's the problem? (2)...
