I saw this dude open for Zakk/BLS a couple of years back - put on a good show, I’d go see him again

They played Tuscaloosa and Birmingham a lot back when I was in college (early to mid 90’s). Seen them a few times and it was always a good show. That drummer/singer dude was a trip

Re: new BLACK CROWES album announced: "Happiness Bastards"

If you look at the cover closely (normally I’d say why would you bother with this one)…but that’s actually the Southern Harmony album cover white-washed with that graphic.

His wife mustve been smoking from his stash.

Re: How "at capacity" do venues need to be at to make $$$?

I was wondering how those shows were selling. Nuno got more press than any other guitar player in rock when Rise came out. Where? I just looked up their website - I thought it held 1100 but it’s actually almost 1600. Nuno said in between songs early in the set this was supposedly the smallest crowd...

Re: How "at capacity" do venues need to be at to make $$$?

Last week I saw Extreme and Living Colour play in a really nice larger sized club - it probably held 1100 minimum and I’d say that there was maybe 500 there at best and that’s being generous. I’d assume that both bands have a decent guarantee so I’d also have guessed the promoter took a huge hit. T...

Quiet Riot
Warrant
Geoff Tate-ryche
Britny Fox
DLR…

….all in smaller clubs minus DLR, which was in a room that held about 900 (but 900 surely weren’t there)

I’ll never forget it as it was on the same day - a 45 of the Marvel Comics “Power Record” line of the title “Werewolf By Night” and Expect No Mercy by Nazareth. Both were bought at a garage sale for me by my mom when I was four and both were bought cause of the art.

I get Roth not liking Tokyo Dome, even though it still gets played on the Boneyard pretty regularly, but I don't understand not liking A Different Kind of Truth. Clearly, he did all the artwork, he did all the backstage videos that are on the deluxe edition, and those are HIS songs. Just seems like...

Re: Exactly WHO is paying for Ace Frehley’s band?

Ryan Cook used to play guitar, but now is the bassist. Ace downsized when Shouse left to tour with Accept as their bassist. Jeremy is on guitar and Coogie on drums. Coogie usually prefers Ace over Stephen Pearcy so Ace must pay better. All the guys sell picks and sticks which adds onto their take e...

Re: Getting booted out of a concert by security

I saw quite a few get the boot Friday night from a TOOL show. There was plenty of warning about no filming/no picture taking with your phone. Several announcements over the PA and Maynard said it early in the show inbetween songs. Some folks didn’t get the memo.

Re: new BLACK CROWES album announced: "Happiness Bastards"

Crazy how much love this band gets. 2 big albums. 1 did ok. Are they more of a live/jam band? Or just a big cult following? Similar to Widespread Panic? Not a jam band anymore. They are now a LiveNation branded, dare I say, corporate rock band. No experimentation and the songs are familiar and play...

Re: new BLACK CROWES album announced: "Happiness Bastards"

Whyyyyyy are so many rock bands using this soft (likely sampled) snare sound lately!? Not a bad song. It sounds like The Black Crowes probably should sound in their 50s. With a shit snare sound. And that shit snare sound is going to sound exactly the same for the entire album. There’s no crack/atta...

XYZ shake would be better than XYZ What would be in DQ - XYZ shake? Raspberry Plum XYZ? To be fair, Terrys XYZ/AON band was pretty good, the music was very melodic rock and he sang pretty well at times. The sound issues messed it up a bit. And by the Dokken songs his voice was getting shot. What I ...
