Re: John Frusciante killed River Phoenix with a weird cocktail

I’m not nearly as unforgiving of addicts as most of the people posting seem to be, but that said… Frusciante didn’t kill him. Phoenix was already in that life, and once you are, it’s a crap-shoot. Could’ve just as easily happened the other way around. If Frusciante was a much older guy, goading some...

Why would you pay someone to put new strings on a bass?

Alex is the better drummer, or at least he displayed better drumming on his recorded output. But fuck inhated his cymbal sound during much of the Van Hagar era., whereas MC94 sounded killer.

Feels like the collective wisdom of Sludge cares more about how a Jerry Cantrell solo album sells/charts in 2024 than the man himself probably does. I’m sure he knows this won’t be a hit, but it’s a good album, as were his previous solo efforts.

Love how Schaffer presents it like he was just swept up in the moment, but then you remember he showed up in Osth Keepers gear, carrying bear spray () and was one of the first guys through the door.

Re: "The Emptiest Concert I Have Ever Been To - A Strange Night Of Old School Hip Hop"

EMPD had 4 Gold Albums in a row when it meant something, without “going pop.” Those albums are all considered classics in the genre. Then they had a comeback after a breakup that was a huge deal in hip-hop. And they went Gold again 5 years later in a new scene. “Da Joint” was a rap hit. “You Gots t...

I thought Edge of Seventeen was sung by Fleetwood Mac. I only found out a month ago that I was wrong. I'm sure there are lots of people out there that thought John Cafferty "On the Darkside" was Bruce Springsteen. I probably thought so too the first time I heard it. Semi-intentionally giv...

Released in 1989 with the help of 3 producers, “Cocked & Loaded” was LA Guns most commercially famous output. 3 singles were released from the album to some chart success. Was this album a success? I like it, and they were able to stay signed and make a follow up. That’s as successful as I need...
