Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

/\ It's not you. I've seen a lot of sloppy play this year and mistake riddled games. I have to say that outside of Trestman in Montreal, Bellefeuille in Hamilton, and maybe Hufnagel and Buono at times, I haven't been too impressed with the coaching either. So anyways - here goes: Calgary over Edmont...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

Speaking of the dearly departed Expos, at least they always got great prospects for the players they had to let go. Yeah, but they still made this trade: Cliff Lee, Brandon Phillips, Grady Sizemore, and Lee Stevens to Cleveland for Bartolo Colon! Good god, I bet the GM who made that trade never got...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

So, Vladdy hits HR #400 last night - the game winner, no less - and Gammo (who I've lost most of my respect for) says he doesn't think Vlad "will play long enough to reach the HOF." OK, a friend of mine summed it up in comparison better than I can: "So Peter Gammons doesn't think Vla...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Good god does the Argos offence suck!

I would have liked to see the Als offence put up a few more points, but then again they could have been tired from being on the field all night.

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Week 6: Montreal over Toronto: The rumors of the Als being "exposed" by Edmonton are greatly exaggerated. BC over Sask: Wally Buono is trying everything to get his team going - including threats. It should work at home this week against the Green Riders. Edmonton over Hamilton: The Ticats ...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Well, there goes the perfect season. Sadly, I called it. There's no way the Als were going to keep up that pace, especially not alternating games in the east and west every week. Seriously, who makes the CFL schedule? Als open in Calgary, come home to play Edmonton, travel to Regina, back home to pl...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Week 5 (Which I'll see very little of thanks to my holidays) Montreal over Edmonton - C'mon...The Eskimos are the luckest first place team in history. they are 2 plays away from being 0-4. BC over Hamilton - The TiCats are improved and the Lions are as bad as they've been in years, but until the Ca...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

I knew this would be an ugly game, with both teams playing on Saturday, traveling, and then playing again on Thursday. I'll take the win, but it was painful to watch. The Als offence sputtered a bit against an improving Hamilton D, but like many teams, the Ti-Cats couldn't put the ball in the end-zo...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Montreal - but the Als better not spend too much time reading their press clippings Toronto - in the battle of johnny-come-lately coaches who wish they were Mark Trestman Calgary - this one can go either way, but I look for the defending champs to find their swagger again soon Sask - Edmonton has no...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Well, at this point do we start asking who the Alouettes will play in the Grey Cup? Three straight beat downs of Western opponents; two of them on the road. I'm thrilled, but pretty damn shocked. I knew with the return of Avon Coburne, and an improved defensive scheme, the team would be good, but NO...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

lions looked pretty good tonight. the edmonton D did not. Quarterback controversy in Lion-Land... It never fucking ends with that shit over here I think TSN said Pierce will be back in next week. I don't know about that... the offence looked better, and more diverse, with Jackson in there if you as...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Week 3 Interesting matchups...tough to pick all of them. BC at Edmonton - Wally wants to avoid an 0-3 start. Will Edmonton give Arlee Whitlock a chance to redeem himself after having the worst individual performance in the history of human competition last week? I'm going with Edmonton, because the...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Loved seeing Ritchie's Esks get boot-fucked tonight. Well done Als. Was at the game last night. Man, did I feel bad (almost) for that Whitlock kid who's trying to replace Lumsden - what was Hall thinking, keeping him in and throwing him to the wolves like that? Only 29 yards rushing, 2 dropped pote...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Week 2 bitches! Montreal over Edmonton - The Eskies are improved, but I don't see them winning in Montreal with a rookie starting at running back. Also have the running game and passing game going - I see a lot of points be put up on the board, but more by the Als. Calgary over Winnipeg - I look for...

Re: The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Despite some special teams blunders, and turnovers when the rains were coming down, the Als looked pretty damn good on offence and defence. They're starting with a VERY tough schedule (in Calgary, home to Edmonton, in Regina, home to Hamilton with only a five day turnaround). If they can come out of...

The official 2009 CFL (Canadian Football League) thread

Time to get this fucker started with just a few days until the kickoff of the 2009 campaign. I expect to see the usual suspects post here all year, but hopefully we can add a few more proud Canadian Football League fans. I don't know about you guys and your teams, but I love my Als chances this year...

unbelievable end to the USA game last night. Shame only 13K people saw it. A nice story on the after game celebration and the US' impromtu inclusion of a disabled war veteran in attendance: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=ApvhS_L0yy4BHzmqUi5PBYs5nYcB?slug=jp-perezteamusa031809&prov=yhoo&a...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

Chiming in on some of the above - - I think there's a bit of a bias against ex-Expos re the Hall of Fame. Face it, Carter went in as an Expo and was none too happy about it (ungrateful fucker) because he felt it would hurt his value for signings, etc. I think Raines would definitely go in as an Expo...

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

All I know is if Rice gets in, there's no reason to not let in Andre Dawson at some point. Same thing with Henderson and Tim Raines - if Rickey was the greatest at what he did, then Raines was just a shade behind him during the 80's era.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread

Looks like K-Rod is about to sign with the Mets - 3 years/$37 million. How much you want to bet his arm falls off mid-way through the 2009 season?

Also, Casey Blake and Mark Loretta signed by the Dodgers and Kerry Wood may soon become the Indians new closer.
