I want an Explorer

Those BOSS DF-2s are pretty cool! I have one and though I don't use it a lot I like it. Easier to use than an E-bow and cheaper than putting a Sustainer in all your guitars, though you don't have clean sustain available. I would just use a compressor if I wanted that anyway.

For anyone that doesnt know, the DF-2 is basically a DS-1 that also has a feedback/sustain function. If you just hit the switch and take your foot off, you have a DS-1 distortion sound. If you keep your foot on the pedal you engage the feedback/sustain function, and there's a knob that controls the overtone you want to use as well. Pretty cool unit!

That actually sounds really cool. I always dug the DS-1, but always found that it was able to be tweaked in the particular way. BTW, El Toro, you ever tried the Tweaked pedal? If not, try it, you might dig it or try for a boutique pedal like Budda- though I might have spelled that wrong.


On my wish list for right now:

Gibson LP Custom in either black, white, or silverburst (my dream)

BTW, the way anyone ever try the Budda Amps? OMFG, I think maybe that and an HK might be the amps to outdo my Marshall, when the Marshall works, that is.

Stock Boss pedals sound like shit through my Vibrolux - not sure why. I know the Keeley modded stuff is excellent, however.

A lot of it has to do with the level the pedals send to the amps input.
A lot of great pedals, distortions in particular, just don't work well
with Fenders.

Do you mean they need to be buffered? I'm selling a EP3 tone circuit pedal... it brings your impedance down.

Yeah using a buffer can work but often you can run into the problem of not having
enough control over the signal coming out of the buffer. A lot of old schoolers used
to use half dead batteries in their pedals to soften the signal. That's one of the reasons why you see
pedalboards power supplies with a voltage sag option.

On that note, I've been using one the these lately as a buffer;

They are handy as hell. True bypass. Makes a great lead boost pedal for people
who are perfectly happy with their tone but just need a boost.

The funny thing is the Twin Reverb I used to have took pedals very well; the Vibrolux has just been really picky about what is run in front of it. I dig the tone though, so it's worth the time finding the right gear for it.

For those that never heard about it, EVH used his Echoplex EP3 in the front of his pedal chain as a "boost" not an echo.

The EP3 buffered his signal so his phaser and flanger had more usable signal. Then, he had another tape delay after the effects to use for echo. The lowered impedance (and small gain/tone boost) made his stuff sound huge!

Sadly, he uses Roland SDE3000 digital delays now.

This guitar has a Fralin SP43 in the bridge. It matches great with the bucker in the neck and I bet it'd sound great in an Esquire. A little more P90ish than a standard tele pickup with lots of gain on tap.
