That's weird...the MXR phasers tend to be pretty subtle!

What one is it? Phase 90 out front is the classic subtle EVH/Iron Maiden trick.

The only modulation/phase/flange effect that should go through the loop is an MXR flanger for the over-the-top EVH sound like Atomic Punk, Cradle Will Rock or Unchained...

Unless you count tremelo in that group. Those go in the loop, too.

That is pretty cool. I had one of the big ones and sold it because it took up too mush real estate on the board.

...well, that and because i don't play much Van Halen

I like it for Police type stuff - but chorus/flange are some of my favorite guitar effects to turn on and play.

Hey Stevie/mods.........I think this thread has earned "sticky" status.

Can we have it? Far more informative than the countless 'this band is shite" or "this band is nothing without this particular member'.....

Phase 90s are usually so subtle. See if yours has a micro pot inside and turn that down a bit.

I've had several MicroFlanges and they all killed. I always regret letting them go, but the Guyatone FL3 is pretty rocking in it's place.

Yep! That's how I found out about 'em. I'd really like a Shell Pink Tele with a rosewood neck, Lollar Low Wind Imperial neck humbucker with a Special T in the bridge. Oh, and double bound body! 8)

I am absolutely jonesing for one of these:

...which is a copy of this:

Normally, I'd rather have the real deal, but Rickenbacker ONLY made the 481 with SLANTED FRETS, which I don't want. The Ibanez/Greco version corrects that mistake, and still looks cool as shit.

Both are super fucking rare, though...

It sucks, because those are guitars that spent most of their 35 year histories as guitars that you couldn't give away...even the Ric was under $200 at a pawn shop for sure...but they've been caught up in the vintage market now, so even though they are kind of crappy, they cost $$$$! (GC here actually has one of the Rics, I have never seen the Ibanez...)

If anybody sees one for cheap, even one that's fucked up (especially a fucked one...I'll bring it back to playability), PLEASE let me know!

That's actually a Greco (you can tell by the "G" tailpiece) made by Ibanez...(I think...it also has an Ibanez truss rod cover...it gets confusing in Japan in the '70's)

The greco model was the RG550.

Image

The Ibanez version is the Ibanez 2388, seen better here, down to the checkerboard binding!: http://over700songs.com/blog/?p=698

Image

...and, of course, being the Japanese, there are unexplained variations, like this bitch with two humbuckers:

It supposedly matched the "natural" angle of your hands when playing.

It ACTUALLY was just a retarded idea that is really annoying as you get up the neck.

Rickenbacker has a long history of fucking up good guitars with really stupid design ideas.

Anyone have experience w/the Keeley pedals?

I scored a Keeley Modded Tube Screamer TS808...unreal tone. I love it and I'm itching to see how his other pedals are. I want them all...haha. But they are pricey, but so far I'm in love with the two I have. Crystal clear, and no tone suckage in the least bit.

Almost got a Keeley Blues Driver but wasn't 100% on it.

Toro - the Keeley mods are pretty much a hot rodded upgrade. They replace a lot of the parts that make a pedal "suck" and pretty much turn it into a big tone machine. Their Boss mods are awesome.

I've tried to talk myself into one of those...even done photoshop layovers with the different pickguard...it just doesn't do it.

Plus, one of the things I like about the original is that they are big guitars. I like big guitars.

Eastwood pisses me off because they make things nobody else does, then they overcharge.

It's just mass-produced Asian stuff...nothing they make should be over $300.

I want one of these, but not at $849.

Image

On the other hand, GFS/Xavier does it right, they just don't make anything I really want...though I do use their pickups.

Those guitars are pretty nice EXCEPT that the headstock on them is a dealbreaker! Looks like a $49 TG&Y dimestore special from the 70s because of the headstock. FUGLY is being kind.

Just received my TC Electronics Classic TC XII Phaser. True Bypass, 4,8 and 12 stage phaser. It sounds killer - I originally wanted a MXR Phase 90, but started reading reviews on this pedal and it covers everything the Phase 90 does and alot more. I am really diggin' this pedal!!!

I'd likely grab on of those Stormbirds if they weren't basswood.

You know, I used to not be a fan of basswood, but my Fender Paisley Tele changed my mind on it.
