The Hush II just didn't cut it for me...But I had a lot of noise with certain preamps...The decimator actually blew me away as I had no idea noise reduction could be achieved so perfectly....

I may buy one just so I don't hear all that background crap from my son's rig!

I used a Hush back in the day with solid results. No complaints.

I hear ya Toro...Noisy amps are very distracting...I shouldn't have slammed the Hush II so hard as it ain't a bad unit...It's just that the G String Decimator is soooooo much better....Almost perfect, which I did not believe existed...It's light years beyond the Rocktron and Boss stuff...There is simply full tone, no noise...Plus, you don't have to continually readjust it depending on chaging channels or pedals, etc...It's the greatest...

Sounds like the Decimator is great, but I wonder if your Hush II had a problem, of you had some bad cables in your rig or...? I have never had a problem with the Hush in my Intellifex, it's global on all the presets. I use it with a Peavey Rockmaster 3-channel preamp as well as with a Carvin VM100 which is 2 channels, and it seems perfect as it is from the factory. I've never had to fool with the presets at all as far as the noise gate was concerned. Maybe it's just a later series or something, or you got a bad unit. It's one of the main selling point of the Intelifex IMO. I think 5 12AX7s in the Carvin and 4 in the Peavey, along with an SD-1 for solo boost, is hitting the preamp with plenty of gain, too.

You could hear old school Hush's clamping down if mis-set.

Ugh. The worst part was when you'd turn the volume down on the guitar to get a clean sound...frickin' DeVille did that for "I Won't Forget You", and I had to pump the level by hand...and still it would kill decays and shit...

I've been suspicious of noise reducers ever since.

Yeah, I have an ancient DOD noise gate/direct box that does that, it's probably late 70s vintage. It still works though! But what it does I don't like.

I think Rocktron must have fixed that by the time they started integrating their Hush noise reduction into multieffect units like the Intellifex and preamps like the Prophesy. My experience is only with the Intellifex but what I like is that I don't really have to fuck with it much AT ALL. I have friends who can program the hell out of 'em but I don't require all that much - nice background delay, chorus on the cleans, and the noise gate on all the time, so I don't have to manually hit it when I go from clean to distortion.

I am not Steve Vai with effects, though I do have a Digitech harmonizer. I have 128 presets and probably use 4 unless i am just showing a friend all the presets for fun. Those presets, my amps' channels, a wah and an SD-1 are about it for me.

I am not very techy compared to a lot of my friends, they can program some amazing stuff and are always upgrading. I have more grease than I need already and I can (barely) figure out how it works, so I haven't pushed the envelope in years!

111 isn't too bad. Keep an eye on it though, you don't want to go much lower.

I rewired my circuit with heavier gauge wire and am now up to 115...Guess summertime air usage and this hot spell are keeping numbers low...Fortunately it has never dipped below 110 that I've seen...Thank you for the info and heads up!

I just can't justify a real 335's cost. It's actually a decent guitar. Maybe some P90's will make her cooler.

An Epiphone Jay Jay French Les Paul Standard. This ain't the Elitist version, it was some limited run to independent dealers. Pretty cool eh? It's pink burst.

I'm thinking of swapping the pickups for Duncan 59s for a bluesy rock tone, any other suggestions for pickups?
Very Cool! There is not enough pink guitars in this world.

I actually just won this guitar from Epi! Haven't had the chance to really take it for a test drive...how's it been treating you?

Not with Warmoth, but i've put parts mutts together before. Body and neck were already finished so it was just bolting and soldering. Warmoth makes top-quality parts though, if you consult with them so they make sure everything goes together as far as scale lengths and such, you can't go wrong with Warmoth parts. If your budget is tighter Mighty Mite parts aren't bad either, and cost quite a bit less. Their quality is comparable to Fender so it's not bad at all.

BackPack - that guitar's long gone. But for what it's worth, I loved the unfinished neck on it and it was one of the best LPs I've ever had. Don't make me GAS for another!

Double check and see if one of your pots is a push/pull pot. Mine had one and I didn't know it until my tech did some work on it.

Yeah, I've been ogling a lot of stuff on the Warmoth site. I already know exactly what I want to do, it's just a matter of committing the cash to it. But damn I have expensive tastes... the fully painted body alone is going to cost about $800! I'm pretty sure the whole thing will end up running close to $1500. Rather spend that on something with my specific wants, instead of accepting what I get off the rack. My goal is to take the best of PRS and Suhr and put them together. Of course, I'll post pics when I do.
