Anybody ever play one of these (ESP Phoenix II)? I played one at a shop today and fell in love with it. Only $350. Really tempting.
I got this dude today!
I had mentioned it to the wife so for christmas she got a few of my relatives to buy me gift cards from the guitar shop in town that had it. So I only had to put out very little of my own money to get it. What a cool little guitar. Plays great, sounds great, looks great... I love it!

Whoops, I gotta make a clarification. I get ESP and LTD mixed up and this is actually an LTD by ESP. It's a pretty good version of this model, the ESP and LTD versions look exactly alike. This one has most of the same upscale features as the ESP version: mahogany body, Duncan pickups, ebony fretboard, all that shit. Made in Korea. I think the lower line ones are basswood.
This is the right one:

I have it split between a Vox VT100 and a old Sunn Model T. Sometimes my Crate hybrid for a nastier tone. I keep thinking I want to upgrade all that but I can't find anything I like better. Of course I like stuff like Matchless and Mesa Boogie but I don't feel good about dropping that kind of cash.

Oh yeah. It's a big loud old-timey tube head. Really sounds best if you can crank it which I don't really have the square footage to do. I wouldn't mind selling it someday to get an amp that's more practical for my purposes. I've kind of lost my desire to injure people with volume.

They get good money these days... look 'em up! Then go get a 20w Krank Rev Jr. and you'll be happy ot a "Little Stiffy"... both awesome.
Danelectro Fish'n'Chips EQ...giving the old Behringer battery-muncher the heave-ho.
Also......went to Northwest Lumber here in Indy, picked up a beautiful ebony fretboard blank.....for a DIY Explorer build I'm embarking on. Plans are en route from BYOguitar.com.
Kicking around other specs at the moment...def. doing it in mahogany, set neck...but have considered using some aesthetic cues from a LP Custom (3-ply body binding, some kinda split-diamond inlay on a 3-ply bound hockey-stick headstock, block inlays). Could be kinda ambitious on a first build...all that's set in stone right now is the ebony board and the blueprints.

Flying V Custom? Hadn't heard of/seen that one....although the carved-top Goldtop Flying V idea I had a while back is still very much viable. It's sidelined for now, gonna take some time and more $$$ than I have at my disposal currently to pull THAT one off(the carved top on that one is gonna be a real mother to pull off) the way I have it envisioned.
Been kicking this one around for a little while, and buying the ebony has kinda cemented this...not to mention reading the 27-page-and-counting thread on Peter Frampton's long-lost(and now CONFIRMED FOUND) '54 Custom over on the MLP forums(yeah, I know you're over there too) has kinda inspired this as well(only 2 pickups on this, though).
It does great normal trem, tempo synced/tap trem, and has a feature I have never seen elsewhere, where the tremelo speed goes faster the harder you hit it...like you hit a big chord and the trem goes fast, then slows down as it decays...
For 'verb I use an electro-harmonix Holy Grail. It's simple and sounds good...no reason to over complicate things, lol.

I figured on a Holy Grail too...there's just too many damn pedals. Thanks Sleek!

Picked up a Hermida Reverb and CMATMODS Tremoglo to finish this incarnation of my pedalboard.
I purchased the MXR Custom Badass Overdrive a few weeks ago. I like it - it's about as gain-y as you can get without going into distortion. The 100 hz knob really gives it the depth of a Marshall amp being naturally driven. I've got a CMATMODS Butah Overdrive that gives me a very present overdrive/Vox growl at higher levels as well. I may swap the MXR if I can find something like a Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive with a sturdier build.

Did you mean "NOW" $469? I am pretty happy with my little JCA20H head which was only $249! Perfect little mini-Marshall with a Vox-ey chime when you strum lightly! I'm sure the Stiff amps are great though!

Sorry.. I typed too quickly on that. Here's my prototype!
We're going to add a "Crspy Creme Treble Boost" where you see the punch-out.
