How heavy is that Ibanez? It looks like a beast.

Not crazy heavy like some LP's, but she's solid for sure.

It's pretty cool. Like everyone else, I love Les Pauls, but am sick to death of them. That Ibanez is a cool take on the shape.

Thanks. One thing that's a lot nicer than most LP's is the
recessed neck joint allows you to hit all the higher frets.

No cock-blocking at the 15th fret!

Yeah, I'm a Gretsch maniac, and that's my biggest problem with them. Reaching the higher frets is awful on most Gretsch guitars. The DuoJet I had was the easiest, as it's basically a Les Paul style too, but the big hollowbodies that I like are a pain in the ass. I usually have to take my thumb completely off the neck and put my hand at a crazy angle to get up past the 17th fret.

I hear ya. If you like that Gretsch sound though, there's nothing like the real thing!

In my never-ending quest for a solid combo that I can do a lot with and THAT WON'T BREAK DOWN, I Just picked up a 4x10 Peavey classic 50. Found one for $200, which is a great deal.

So far, results are good. Sounds good, looks good, is GREAT with pedals, and is nice and loud. I went through it and checked everything when I got it home...still has original tubes, which is a very good sign. That pretty much means it's never been in the shop.

I'm gigging with it this weekend.

I was wondering if anyone here has some feedback on guitars made of Korina (limba)? From what I understand they are similar to mahogany, but are usually lighter and supposed to have good resonance and sustain…. But I wanted to hear what people who have one or played/had one in the past. Thanks!

I finally broke down and got the Reverend Sensei RA I wanted. I also picked up a Gibson LPJ that I plan on moding a bit. I know there are some Gibson haters on here but this is a fine instrument for the money. Mine is a gold top 2013 with traditional weight relief which means it isn't a hollow body lol.
Pics will come soon. Just out of curiosity, anyone here play a LPJ yet? Thoughts?

Almost picked one of these up as well but I chickened out. Maybe soon though. I've been thinking about this model for a couple years now. I saw Chris Poland play one of these or something close to it. It was an Ibanez for sure. Maybe an older model.

Bought this back in late January. Just didn't get around to posting it until now. It's a B.C Rich Warlock NJ Deluxe. I love everything about this guitar except the EMG pickups. Maybe someday in the future I"ll put some Duncan SH12s in it.

Sometimes I forget I am on a hair metal board!

I bought this about a month ago:

I didn't care for the stock pickups...put a couple Duncan Fat Cat P90s in it I had around, and have done two gigs so far. Good guitar,. Looks cool as fuck, and I needed something with a bigsby.

The best part is, they have a center block so they don't moo feedback at you like a pure hollowbody, and they are only $549 new.

Gretsch's budget lines are usually as good as everyone else's pro line. Those Streamliners are cool, but yeah, you've got to change the pups and nuts.

So far the nut is good, and I'm pretty impressed at how well the bigsby is staying in tune...I'm doing How Soon is Now and Killing Moon on this, which is a pretty good dive for a bigsby.

...you know, fag music by the Smith and Echo and the Bunnymen... :)

Glad to hear the Bigsby stays in tune. That's probably the number one gripe of Gretsch users. I already have two Gretsch guitars with Bigsbys, and if I get a Streamliner, I'd probably go with the red double cut without the Bigsby. Put some Dynasonics in there, and get a Compton bridge. Comptons are almost a required upgrade for Gretsch guitars. The TOM bridges that come stock suck. But that's half the fun of Gretsch guitars. They're phenomenal right out of the box, but they're like hot rods. They're great to tinker with, because they're capable of any sound.

ETA: Olds, that white Jackson is actually not bad. I wouldn't own it, but compared to the others, it's cool.

Those Greco's are supposed to be good guitars. There's a pretty good market for them.

I'm going to look at a Washburn N4 USA this week.
I know there are Chinese knock offs of them now, they look pretty good on aliexpress.
Anybody know what to look for on a real N4? Tell tale signs?
I have educated myself pretty good on the Gibson vs Chibsons, but theres not a lot of info on the n4 knockoffs.

Last week I had a NGD. I got a '94 Hamer Studio Custom. Nice flame, gold hardware, ripping pickups, over all in decent shape for a 22 year old guitar.

I can vouch that they look, play and sound great!

The EGF850's of Super Real Series go for about $1200 - chances are you'll need to import them from Japan though - they were only made for a few years late 1979 - early '82, I think.

'59 profile neck and vintage sounding PU-2's in the EGF850's. The EGF1000's and up have "Dry Z" pickups (Maxon made) - you should check the used price of a pair of matched ones (I'm sure I saw $500!). You'll be dropping a lot of coin getting an EGF1200 with Dry Z's.

I've owned a couple of late 70's/early 80's Gibson Customs and while it's usually the done thing to say the Greco's are way better (when selling), I can genuinely say that they do sound as good to me and play as well, if not better as my Gibsons did. And you'd be struggling to get a 1981 Gibson for $1100 in the UK anyways. I guess if you want resale value down the line, stick to Gibson and not the Japanese copy.

I'd recommend checking them out. But you need to factor in shipping from the Far East, import duty and the fact that you won't be playing it till it arrives. I made a wrong call on the 1978 black 3 pup Custom - it'll end up being about $900 in total, buying and fixing, to get it in full working condition. It looks magnificent tho. Which is the main consideration.

Ya know, I was supposed to go to a show tonight, but it got postponed...and for some reason I was sitting around like:"Jeez. I have a lot of strat-shaped guitars...I think I'll take a pic.

So here they are. I prefer a couple hollowbodies I have, but as far as functional design and durability goes, I think strats are the ultimate.

The bottom 5 are working guitars. I do several gigs per month on those ones. The top row are more specialized and gather a lot of dust

That's kind of what I got it for. It has one of those DiMarzio X2n pickups in the bridge, which I thought would suck, but it's really nice. Not muddy like a lot of high output pups. Really good midrange.

The best of the floyd strats is that wood colored one with the single pickup though. That one just came out right.

Best of the "normal" strats is the black one.

That's the Squier '51. They came out about 10 years ago. Great guitars for no money. I used to have 2, but I traded one for a pedal.
