Jimmy Page and Robert Plant should be in everyone’s posts.
Disagree. I respect the shit out of Plant for not tainting the band's legacy by doing a geezer tour. Mick and Keef should take a page out of his book.
Agree with this 100%
Me three. While it's not every hard rocker's cup of tea, Plant has gone in whatever musical direction he's wanted to go. I love the Zep catalog and think for 15 years Page was one of the most creative cats around. I like most of Coverdale/Page and Walking Into Clarksdale, but between that and the Firm stuff, not much output from such a prolific guy.

The brothers Van Halen-for fucking up one of the best American rock bands ever with petty ego bullshit. STILL.

Motley Crue- for each individually being huge cunts. Maybe Mick gets a pass, but...

Ozzy-for being complicit in re-recording the rhythm section on Diary and Blizzard. Even though I have versions of those with the original guys, I still think more about that fuckery whenever one of the songs comes on than I do about the actual song. I still respect him musically, but that is a weak fucking motherfucker there.
This!! Totally agree.

Me four. Plant is by far the most creative rocker at that age group. Still putting out great albums and exploring new ways musically.

Someone find an artist or band that has been accused of it more than they have. Please.
Everything from 1966 to 1970 that Zappa did was actually stolen from Jimmy Carl Black, the Indian of the group.

U2, Bono and Edge - Up until All that you can't leave behind I felt like they were striving for something. Tried to be the biggest band in the world. After that they just went back to the same old 80s sound and it wasnt' interesting anymore

Oasis - I liked a few songs on Heathen chemistry but then they got mixed up with a new bassist and a new drummer and started haning out with Soundtrack of our lives and for some reason Noel can't write anymore ....... fuck has Noel written one..ONE...decent song since 2002? IMO no

Scott Stapp - He wrote some fucking great lyrics on My own prison and Human Clay. I understood where the "Eddie Vedder wishes he could write like that" line of thinking came from. But the with Weathered, solo projects and the reunion. The man didn't write one good line of lyrics again.

Surprised nobody mentioned Ted Nugent. Maybe nobody had much respect for him in the first place?

Still, his early work was great, and should be admired, and I was able to put politics aside for the love of the music, but his conservatism and NRA wing nut statements the last few years and completely turned me off of him. No respect for him anymore whatsoever.

Metallica, for SKOM, Bob Rock, etc., BUT specifically Kirk Hammett.

How the fuck that guy got progressively worse with resources he has is astounding.

OTOH you have Mark Tremonti, who was also from a large band that has/used the same resources available to Hammett. Tremonti became a pretty good guitarist.

Hammett is so bad now I can't listen to any new Metallica. The guy was never a Skolnick, but the solos he wrote in his 20s should have continually gotten better. He's Kerry King-level bad now.

If anything, I’m disappointed at the slow quiet death of the punk scene. Nothing really real has come out of punk this decade at all with one exception: Neil Young’s The Monsanto Years.

Page maybe.
Plant has stuck to his guns and continued to make excellent albums and put on an enjoyable show without clinging desperately to his achievements in the 1970s. Fuck a shitty Zep reunion - he’s gained my respect.

THIS!

Robert Plant is the worst possible reply to this thread!

Excellent quality albums that have only got better and better this millennium. No sign of remaking boring classic rock or aping his LZ heyday. No sign of money grab reunion. This guy really knows how to use his old man voice and always explores new musical avenues with very satisfying results.

Well, both terms "musician" and "respect" might be a little strong for this guy, but Bret Michaels.

The Flesh & Blood days is when I got into Poison, and thought he came across as a pretty good guy. He was always trying to portray himself as such hard worker, a "serious" songwriter. Etc. Well, yeah, we see how things have turned out. Enough said.

SSSHHHH.. Don't tell this to Nick E. Carlos. Plant stole ALBUMS of blues material (provided each album would be 10 minutes long)
