Generation Swine revisited
Today when I was cleaning my house I put on Generation Swine. I haven’t listened to it in quite some time and I honestly thought it sounded awesome!
I really enjoyed it and listened to it all of the way through. I know a lot of people don’t like it but I definitely give it an a solid 7.2 out of 10 if we were on a pizza rating scale

Re: Generation Swine revisited
GW is near the bottom of my Crüe ranking (along with SOLA and MC94), I give it a sixx out of ten.

Afraid and Brandon are the only two songs i think i've heard off that and they are so horrible I cant imagine anything could redeem it.

Worst Crüe album. Total botched comeback attempt. Instead of giving old fans the nostalgia they wanted they tried to be modern and failed epically. Give me New Tattoo or SOLA any day.

Yep. SOLA had the title song. New Tattoo had Hell on High Heels. 2 of their best songs. The ONLY good songs on those releases. But GS had zero listenable tracks.

It would have sounded better with Corabi on vocals. Weren't there GS/Corabi demos long ago?

Thanks for including the times. Makes it easier to fast-forward each track.
I agree "Rat Like Me" is the hidden gem on this turd album. I remember playing it for a co-worker back in the day, and she thought it "sounded '80s." That kind of feedback would've killed Nikki and Tommy.

Motley was my favorite band growing up so I was excited they were going to have a new album out. I liked it then so I still like it now. If you replaced Glitter and Rocketship for Wreck Me and KISS The Sky, it would have been even better! Still like it better than New Tattoo.

Re: Generation Swine revisited
When I saw the thread title, I was afraid John 5 talked them into releasing a box set and anniversary tour!
It's at the bottom of the list for sure. Pretty much anything post-Decade of Decadence is for that matter. I revisit it every once in awhile just because you can only listen to Kickstart My Heart so many times..
Like others have said, it was especially bad because it was supposed to be their big reunion, getting back with Vince and it turned out to be the most un-Motley sounding album ever.

Re: Generation Swine revisited
I'm not a big fan of Motley Crue, very casual fan at best, but Generation Swine is my second favorite album of theirs, Dr. Feelgood being my favorite. The 97 tour is the only time I've seen them live, and I mostly went because Cheap Trick opened. The only songs I really can't stand on the album are "Brandon" of course, "Beauty" and "Confessions". I really like "Afraid", and "Flush". I don't even mind "Glitter". The only part of the song I think is cringe is that line about putting a baby inside of you. Generation Swine is one of the rare Crue albums I actually do revist. I mostly just listen to Dr. Feelgood and Red, White, and Crue.

Re: Generation Swine revisited
Their worst album and one of the worst rock band comebacks ever. Title track is okay, Shout 97 is cool live, the rest is complete shit.
Re: Generation Swine revisited
There are some songs I like. When it first came out I thought it was a big stepdown from MC94 and Feelgood. Definitely not the kinda record one would want from them. New Tattoo was a big improvement in terms of songs, but it sounds like a cheap demo. Plus Tommy's drum sound is sorely lacking. You would think someone would have done something to make the drums have more punch and sound less sterile and static.

Re: Generation Swine revisited
I know I've skimmed through this record years ago, but nothing stood out.. I tried to give this a listen, but gave up halfway during "Confessions". Sounded very dated and void of any memorable hooks, but I bet they thought they were cutting edge modern by mid-90's standards. Tellingly, there is already a great trainwreck records episode on Youtube about this record..
In Finland we have this thing called "Reilu Meininki".

Re: Generation Swine revisited
'Afraid' is a good track, but sounds nothing like why I listen to Crue. Enjoyable though. It is to the Crue catalogue what 'Jaded' is for Aerosmith: decent track, a bit more melancholy than their usual, but standout on a dull album.
As for New Tattoo getting panned as being a worse album, I disagree on the basis of three songs: Hell on High Heels, Punched in the Teeth by Love and the cover of White Punks on Dope are all Crue doing what they do best.

Real Talk:
"Brandon" is not the worst song on the album. What's the one Sixx sings? "Rocketship"? It's that one.
Read the lyrics. "Brandon" is Leonard Cohen compared to "Rocketship."

Re: Generation Swine revisited
I really liked it when it came out (probably the reunion hype played into it), but IMO, absolutely unlistenable today. Weak songs and the trend (at the time) chasing production makes the album sound dated as fuck. Worst song is "Let us Prey" (tuneless drivel). New Tattoo and SOLA are masterpieces in comparison. Also the tour was the worst Crue show I saw, the new songs didn't mix with the back catalog, and "vibe" was just off.
