Ugh. This inevitably leads to the old "what is a hair band album?" problem. I just can't with Aerosmith or Van Halen, even tho they had hits during the hair era...plus, my whole list would just be their albums. I am also not going to put any records by bands that had albums on both sides, like Def Leppard or Priest, who, despite having some stuff that falls into that era, will always just be BHM bands, NW or not, going through a phase to me.

Imma draw an arbitrary cutoff of 1980 on the low side as well...and only include albums I actually owned.

Motley Crue - Too Fast for Love
Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
Ratt - Out of the Cellar
Ozzy- Blizzard
Ozzy - Diary
Dokken- Tooth and Nail
Dokken - Under Lock and Key
Kix- Kix
Great White - Great White
Cinderella _ Night Songs

There is a reason these albums are considered hair band classics. As much as I wanna say Jetboy, Cats in Boots, Childs Play..or whoever.. these albums are all awesome start to finish.

I'd put Long Cold Winter over D2 and probably have Shout in there somewhere, but every time I listen to one of those albums, it brings back great memories.

Not sure I'd call this a hair band, but this is one of my favorite albums ever. Most who know this band will say the debut is better....it's not, and this album is all kinds of kick ass

Saw this tour twice in small clubs. both amazing shows.

Van Halen = not a hair band. If Van Halen is a hair band because they wore colorful clothes and teased their hair in 1984, then Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac are hair bands too. Heck, even Bob Dylan joined the party.

Van Halen are a hair band unless ‘hair band’ is relegated to that small group of 3rd & 4th wave of early 90s post-poison glam bands like Tuff, PBF, etc.

Okay if they're not hair then add Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation in it's place.

Gettin Pretty Good needs to be issued on vinyl. I bet it would sound great.

(Note: Do not trust the Four Horsemen guitarist, whom shall remain nameless, on a money deal. He's a nice guy but he's also VERY flaky. He handles all their online commerce and you might as well be tossing the money in the trash. Buy from somebody other than their official online site if at all possible.)

Given your timeline and line of thinking it’s safe to say that Quiet Riot, London, Twisted Sister, Def Leppard, Y&T, Night Ranger, WASP, Dokken, Motley Crue and Whitesnake aren’t hairbands either. Most of those bands were together in one form or another and doing roughly the same thing in 1977 that they were doing in 1984. I personally get very offended when people refer to Motley Crue as a hairband. They were together in 1981. Nothing about Too Fast For Love reminds me or makes me think of hairbands.

Stevie is 100% correct. IF and that’s a big “if” VH were not one prior to 1984, they were one by 1984. DLR and the band continued down the hairband path as separate entities after their 1985 breakup.

Were Fleetwood Mac and Dire Straits even rock bands? Judas Priest definitely became one by Turbo

The term "Hair Band" to me means "popular/ Top 40 hard rock of the late 80's to 92'". While VH, AC/DC, Aerosmith, KISS, etc. predate that time line, they are still associated with that genre. And it also includes bands like Kings X, Saigon Kick, Queensrych, etc.... they are also "hair bands"......
