Gotta be Slipknot, right?
Deftones will probably be the winner here.
System was okay.
About it.

I like Slipknot the best these days. They had a few rapping parts in songs, but were mostly intense and heavy. Not like Limp Bizcuit and crap like that.

Deftones worst band of a generation or worst band ever..that awful
Best was Rammstein
Static X should have outsold Slipknot

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

I've always liked Korn, but never considered them nu metal. Zebrahead was kinda cool, although I see the original lead guitarist & rhythm guitar/vocalist aren't in the band anymore.

Of the conventional choices, System of a Down.
First saw them in 1998 when I was 15, last saw them three weekends ago. They continue to just kill it…on the rare occasion that they choose to do so.
I’d say Slipknot are the runners up but it has to be Korn because Slipknot wouldn’t have sounded the way they did without them (Ross Robinson, etc.)
Limp Bizkit and Deftones tied for third, and I don’t care if you’re a hipster who wants to inform me that Limp Bizkit sucks, because you’re wrong

Korn. "Freak on a Leash" is a nu-metal classic. Close second would be Limp Bizkit for "Nookie" and "Break Stuff".

Is early Linkin Park nu-metal? Then, Linkin Park.
If not, still Linkin Park.
That first album is a stone cold classic.
Leaps and bounds beyond their peers. They only got bigger and bigger, globally.
The death of Chester Bennington is the only thing that stopped them.

This list is a little ridiculous. Primus? Body Count and Rage Against The Machine influenced a lot of nu metal bands, but I wouldn't call them that either.
After leaving those three out, it's Korn.

Limpbizkit or Korn. I listened to those bands a lot back in the day.

The only one of those bands that I was a fan of was the Deftones - particularly their 2nd & 3rd albums.
I could stomach some of System of a Down’s music, but it hasn’t really aged well, with me. They did put on a hell of a live show, though.
The rest of the Korn Bizkits had and have no appeal for me at all.

KORN. Original lineup
First 3 records set the standard. Diminishing returns after that not to mention losing David (drums) and later Fieldy (bass) which eliminated two key elements of their sound.

I liked Issues at the time, but my interest waned after that. Plus started expanding my horizons and getting into different music as well.skatexedge wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 1:22 pm KORN. Original lineup
