better 4 album run…

I'd say the Ramones, at risk of inviting the "One good song and it just happens to be the hit" crew.
I thought about Ramones too, but I don't like 'Road To Ruin' as much as the first 3. It's great, but I don't listen to it as much.

Metallica, Sabbath, VH and Cooper are all great choices.

Not mentioned yet: Queensryche: Warning to Empire.

A different choice of Depeche Mode: MFTM, Violator, Songs of Faith and Devotion, Ultra.

Pantera from Cowboys to Trendkill is solid as shit.

But the answer is Metallica. Whether you start the four album run from Kill 'em All or Ride the Lightning.

I stand by it.
I never liked Power Windows, but replace it with Counterparts and you have a solid run.
I'd also add the underrated Test For Echo, better than HYF if you ask me.

Most of those are mainly filler. Like AC/DC. Last great release was Grace Under Pressure. Then a few good tunes surrounded by junk.

Yes it's an amazing run. Took me a while to get Animals but it's almost as good as the others.

That’s probably the order I listen to them. Maybe Animals at #1. Dark Side, in particular, has just been played to death.

I was going to put Floyd on my list, but I am so sick of 'Dark Side Of The Moon' and 'The Wall' I couldn't do it. I still listen to 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Animals' often though. Those two are my faves.

You think? I love AC/DC fan but I don’t think they would be a desert island band for me. Plenty of untouchables listed on here.

Just re-read the thread title/post and I wouldn’t necessarily say “better” than the AC/DC run, but still great. Powerage!

So far nothing has changed my mind.

Van Halen might come closest, but VH1 is about half not good.
And VH2 is lackluster as an album

Guns n Roses? I know it was all downhill after Appetite but you gotta admit, their 4 albums (Appetite, Lies, Illusions I and II) have lasted a lifetime.

Poison's first 4 are all solid

Elton John (1970)
Tumbleweed Connection (1970)
Madman Across the Water (1971)
Honky Château (1972)
Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player (1973)
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973)

I'm more of a Billy guy! Funny enough, his "best album" run starts right where Elton left off!!!
Turnstiles (1976)
The Stranger (1977)
52nd Street (1978)

What really blows my mind about the 70's is that artists and bands were putting out classic albums like this that each YEAR! Starting in the 80's, it became common to get a new record every other year or longer. That's amazing to see so many great songs in such a short period of time.
