The drums would be worth having - particularly the 1940s Slingerland kit.
Screw the rest of it.

Some descendent will sell off the demos "as is" long after most Van Halen nerds who'd care about 'em are dead.

The drum stool isn't a bad deal at $100.

Re: Alex Van Halen Is selling his gear....and stuff
That’s a starting bid. It won’t be anywhere like $100.
Anyone else see the setlist photocopies? Why are they even selling those? They’re photocopies!

That will likely be bid up to an unreasonable price.Mister Freeze wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 4:24 pmOzzy Stradlin wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 3:56 pm The drums would be worth having - particularly the 1940s Slingerland kit.

Re: Alex Van Halen Is selling his gear....and stuff
That's a really weird auction, with a lot of worthless crap that has nothing to do with music or the Van Halen band, but because it was Alexs', it cost 150 bucks
I don't get it... like at all. Is it some sort of egomania induced thing? Is he that desperate for cash? Or is somebody actually gonna buy the non-drum related crap at absurd prices???

Just wait for Wolf to pilfer them for songs that can be credited "Van Halen - Van Halen - Van Halen" because he will change some words in them.Mister Freeze wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 4:22 pm

He doesn’t even need to, he would get away with saying they were his.

Having songs written by Pops and Uncle Al would generate more sales than 1981 VH originals passed off as new Wolfie compositions. Alex doesn't get enough credit for being the biggest douche in VH

Hey, he probably used those encyclopedias to learn to drum on. He sure wasn't reading them.Love_Industry wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 2:16 amOld Dutch bibles and children's books? Used copies of Britannica?
If not as bad then at least not much better.

True. Roth gets all the douche credit but both brothers were probably worse at least over time.AlexVonHaig wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 4:13 am Alex doesn't get enough credit for being the biggest douche in VH
Only Mikey saves OG VH from being another "all asshole band" (think Kiss, Mötley...).

Yeah the bros were both alkies. Ed was the melancholy brooding drunk and Al was the silent angry drunk.

Yeah I also find that hard to believe. He was still running thru wives in the 90s and 00s.

Alex did quit in the 80s, they did an intervention and he went to rehab after OU812. But he got fucked up again later, Mike Post said he was too wasted to play when they were doing VH3.

Aha. Now that you mention it, I remember Eddie saying that he was "sober" in the guitar mags around that time. Ozzy too.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 1:40 pm Alex did quit in the 80s, they did an intervention and he went to rehab after OU812.

Yeah Ed said he was sober for Balance and Sam later said it was bullshit he was just secretly drinking.

Right. I remember Ozzy getting drunk and wandering the neighborhood on the Osbournes when he was supposedly "sober".
