I haven't been to Blossom since the 80s and have no desire to again for the right reasons you mention. It probably is the same today as 40 years ago for parking and the backroads to get there. I'll take a theater or arena show anytime.

What are your thoughts on MGM Fenway?tooth wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 6:07 amI have & I've sat/stood several different places. While I still may go, I'm looking forward to your review.nuno_cherone wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 2:33 pm
I paid 55 for floor. I was supposed to see Priest there but it fell through at the last minute. This will be my first time. I’m hoping to see Marvelous 3 there in November. Have you been yet?

I never really understood Cheap Trick, they just don't do it for me. I can think of a zillion other bands I'd rather see. Maybe they literally live up to their name?

They’re a weird band. Half young guys who look like they should be in a band and half old nerd guys. Some really good songs and a load of totally forgettable shit. Guitarist seems to think he’s Steve Martin and runs around doing goofy shit that only he thinks is funny. Drummer (before they unceremoniously dumped him) looked like a chainsmoking computer repair guy who has a lot of hidden hard drives somewhere.

Doesn't that describe most bands?BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 6:35 pm Some really good songs and a load of totally forgettable shit.
But with you on the looks deal. A band with those 2 weirdos would've never made it on MTV.

Nah, most have a baseline of okay stuff and some high water marks. Cheap Trick has some high water marks and a bunch of garbage!Bono Nettencourt wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 12:30 amDoesn't that describe most bands?BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 6:35 pm Some really good songs and a load of totally forgettable shit.
Look at their most recent show :

75% garbage!
They’re not even playing a bunch of their best songs. They don’t seem to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.

That's a pretty typical setlist, IDK what else you'd want/expect.

As a big CT fan that set list isn't bad. I could do without "In The Streets" and "Jump In The Fire". Don't care for "The Flame" but among fans of the band I'm in the minority. If I made the set lists I'd slot in "Hot Love" and "Give It Away".BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 5:24 amNah, most have a baseline of okay stuff and some high water marks. I really like a lot of their music but I agree about Rick Nielsen’s schtick. Feels like they or at least he tried really hard to make it a “thing”. Like AC/DC had Angus in his school boy strip show and hopped around like a maniac. KISS had Gene Simmons spit blood and stick his tongue out. I just don’t know if Rick Nielsens quirky nerd guy act caught on. I’ve never heard anyone say “man the concert was great, did you see Nick Nielsen bug out his eyes and act like he got electrocuted “. Maybe the die hard can correct me. But man do they have some really great songs.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 6:35 pm They’re a weird band.
