SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
This sounds great. I'd actually go see this if they came around. And it's billed as "Frank Carter and Sex Pistols", they're not acting like this is the real lineup.

I'd go too, but I'd rather have it the other way around: John Lydon and three scabs.

I have a feeling this is going to hit the us/world festival circuit next year.

Nearly impossible to get tickets to gigs like this in London. But they're now doing another gig in September at the much larger O2 Forum in London.

I think he'd much rather do a PIL show than a Sex Pistols show, though.Psychobolia.com wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 10:40 am I'd go too, but I'd rather have it the other way around: John Lydon and three scabs.

Who's the singing neck-tattoo? Frank Carter I assume, but who is he?

Re: SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
This might be common knowledge, but what the issue between Lydon and the rest of the Pistols?
And who is Frank Carter?
And who is Frank Carter?
Re: SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
Original SEX PISTOLS singer John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) has been estranged from the rest of the band after unsuccessfully attempting to block the use of SEX PISTOLS songs in "Pistol", a Hulu miniseries based on Jones's 2016 memoir "Lonely Boy" that dramatized the band's story.SeniorGrande wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 8:54 am This might be common knowledge, but what the issue between Lydon and the rest of the Pistols?

Re: SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
Lydon didn't want Pistols songs being used in the Pistols TV series.
But during one of their reunions he signed a new agreement where decision power went from a veto power to a majority vote power.
The other three guys voted yes on the songs being used in the TV series.
For some reason Lydon doesn't want to recognize the contract he signed.
Apart from that I think Lydon has always hated Matlock because he thinks he is boring or something.
Ignoring the fact the guy co-wrote all the songs....

Yeah, PiL passed through Paris recently, I guess he's happy doing that. I passed on it, I only know one or two PiL songs...dmbrocker wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 5:16 amI think he'd much rather do a PIL show than a Sex Pistols show, though.Psychobolia.com wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 10:40 am I'd go too, but I'd rather have it the other way around: John Lydon and three scabs.
Re: SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
These dudes are old but still seem able to play shows.
I wish they could keep things cordial with Lydon so they could do some shows once in awhile if they felt like it.
I have ZERO interest in Sex Pistols with some unknown nobody singing no matter how good he may sound.
Without Lydon it ain't the Sex Pistols even though they are billing it as such.
I'm surprised Lydon hasn't sued them for that (advertising it as Sex Pistols, when it's just 3/4 of it).
I saw PiL on their last tour and it was quite good.
I'd imagine a re-formed Pistols would go over well but it doesn't seem to be in the cards. Lydon says he lost a boatload of money on lawyers fees over the tv show debacle that he lost in court.
I don't foresee them making amends with each other anytime soon.

This is a goofy as doing Thin Lizzy without the frontman.
Lyndon was the Sex Pistols.

Re: SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
I disagree, to me that's a bit like saying that Axl was Guns n' Roses.
Edit: actually, that's like saying that AxEl was Guns n' Roses.
Re: SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
Let's be realistic here. If it was John Lydon on vocals and Steve Jones on guitar they could get away with calling it Sex Pistols. Nobody really cares about the bassist and drummer.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:11 pm This is a goofy as doing Thin Lizzy without the frontman.

Just like Axl and Slash could be GnR with a bunch of scabs.
Or Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, they're the Rolling Stones.
Add Steven Tyler and Joe Perry to the list, they could call it Aerosmith.
Same with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin.
If you've got the vocalist and guitarist you can get away with calling it whatever the band name used to be even if all the original guys aren't there.
In the majority of bands the bassist and drummer are the least important when it comes to using a band name.

Re: SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
Depends on the drummer. If Bonzo and Peart were still alive, I'd have to disagree here.Lobo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 2:14 pmLet's be realistic here. Re: SEX PISTOLS and FRANK CARTER
For all those asking, Frank Carter was the lead vox on the First two Gallows albums: Lock Up The Wolves, and Grey Britain.
Both killer albums. I’ve seen him up close and personal and he might be 5’ 6” but he was a fireball.
