If you have to listen a Kiss album. At least it’s one of their best ones. Enjoy ?
Re: I'm listening to Kiss Alive! front to back for the first time ever.
Help, I don't want to admit it, but Parasite is a sick riff.
Re: I'm listening to Kiss Alive! front to back for the first time ever.
Haha, yeah, I'm just being cheeky because I've never been a Kiss fan.
She kicks ass.
Also, I should maybe start another thread for this, but Iove to know how many of you guys LIKE TO GET HIGH?
And also if you could let me know how many of you BELIEVE IN ROCK AND ROLL, that would be cool too.

When you listen to Alive, there is something there that hasn't been for the last 23 years. You can hear the difference between a band that wants to be something BIG and one running on the nostalgia cash cow. I always thought Alive was one of most well done live albums of all time. It felt raw regardless of how much was punched in later.

Musta been around early '77 for me.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
Re: I'm listening to Kiss Alive! front to back for the first time ever.
is Alive! a live but studio reworked album too like Alive II?
still it rocks either way though.

This album is full of adequate performances!
Re: I'm listening to Kiss Alive! front to back for the first time ever.
Love Alive! Just don't like how much they doctored it to be "the perfect KISS experience" or however P&G put it. They've said they wanted fans to experience what a real KISS show was...so if that's the case why did they fix everything? A real KISS show wouldn't have been perfect. And that's perfectly okay.
That being said, it's still awesome and a great listen

The crowd is so loud in the mix, which I know was intentional but damn it's fatiguing.

Haha, you intentionally listened to a full Kiss album.

I think the only one I made it all the way through was "People let me get this off my chest". https://youtu.be/t1-cH1voT8w

No, I'm actually 7 days sober for the first time in way too long.
My brain is still trying to figure out how to work right, so I have mood swings and stuff I've never had before, which probably led me to actually listen to a Kiss album.
Also, after listening to Alive!, one of my conclusions was reaffirming my believe that Cold Gin is unbelievably overrated compared to the rest of their early catalog. I don't get it.

According to Eddie Kramer, it's the most retouched Kiss Live album:

Sounds like something a kid wrote in junior high. No idea why they thought it was so essential that they played it on every 80s tour. And without Ace it’s pointless anyway. Spruce doing a load of 80s fast licks over the top of it never made any sense.
Re: I'm listening to Kiss Alive! front to back for the first time ever.
I'm really not a Kiss fan whatsoever, but I've just never understood the infatuation with that song. Why did that become the song everyone covers when they do a Kiss cover? I don't even think it was ever a single.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 11:01 pmSounds like something a kid wrote in junior high. Someone can probably explain it, but if I listened to Alive! and didn't know any of the catalog, it would easily be one of the weakest songs on the album for me. Shrug.

Probably the last really great Gene song. After that it was mostly just Chuck Berry riffs and fuck lyrics.
And speaking of Parasite, here’s a nearly proto-punk rock remix I did to se how it might have sounds if Ace had actually sung it himself…

You may mock Kiss and hate them, but there's no denying that this is a great album, and if you only want one album, this is the one. The opening duo of Deuce and Strutter, Parasite, Watchin' You, 100,000 Years, Black Diamond - all quality meat and potatoes rock. It was all downhill from here.
