Don’t get me wrong, I dig these chicks. But they’re like girl grunge AC/DC… you heard one, heard ‘em all.

Their schtick got old - I'll bet they look haggard now.

L7 is in my Hall Of Fame..they won in life
Last few years saw them at soldout Glass House Pomona and headline best stage at Aftershock..the freeway stage!
Band played under freeway while cars and big trucks drove on freeway while band played…best stage ever!
Got big LA show near Thanksgiving..going be awesome
L7 has sound / style that will last forever

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

I’d go to a show if came through the Carolinas.

They sure looked haggard 30 years ago but that was part of the appeal.
I'd say Death Wish from the prior album is the song that set the template
As always with some of the better one trick ponies the best songs are the deeper cuts. My faves on that album are Diet Pill and Slide. And the albums were actually getting better for a few years even if MTV news stopped looking for reasons to talk to them.

In Sludgeworld anything less than Baywatch / Playboy is "haggard". Thank god I had no interest in either. For me L7 peaked with the Smell The Magic EP, and that and Bricks... are heavily indebted to an Aussie band called the Cosmic Psychos, who've been playing that same style for a lot longer.ijwthstd wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:24 pmThey sure looked haggard 30 years ago but that was part of the appeal.

Cosmic Psychos reference, nice. I had a buddy who loved L7 & we saw them a couple times back in the day. They weren't around that long, iirc. Jennifer Finch played in a band called "OtherStarPeople", they only released one cd & it's awesome. https://youtu.be/mPOwrvOjDnU

From Bricks Are Heavy to the end was 8 years but they went really low profile after 1997 or so. They were getting put on weird bills like Marilyn Manson or maybe slightly more appropriately The Offspring. A friend who opened a headline tour was talking about playing to 100 people in a room that held 400 etc.tooth wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 4:54 pm Cosmic Psychos reference, nice. I thought Hungry For Stink and The Beauty Process were really good and the songs were just getting better but that's the downside of a lot of hype for the wrong reasons and being treated like a gimmick is no one will ever hear them.

I've heard both, own Hungry and saw them on the Beauty Process tour in a reasonably packed, 500 capacity club, but they stopped writing 'pop' hooks like Everglade and the only single from Hungry, Andres, was rather one-dimensional so the mass market moved on. Plus, publicity-wise they never really got over 'the tampon incident'. Someone quoted it above.ijwthstd wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 10:56 amFrom Bricks Are Heavy to the end was 8 years but they went really low profile after 1997 or so. Off The Wagon, Riding With The Movie Star and Talkbox off the top of my head are songs that still ring my bells.GoodJudge wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 12:31 pmI've heard both, own Hungry and saw them on the Beauty Process tour in a reasonably packed, 500 capacity club, but they stopped writing 'pop' hooks like Everglade and the only single from Hungry, Andres, was rather one-dimensional so the mass market moved on. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do with a tampon at 60 years old unless you have diarrhea.
