YouTube ads…

Post by VinnieVincentsVag »

When did these start being :45-1:00 long?
Especially mid roll.
Been turning off more than I’ve been finishing.

Any way to get around them when I watch YouTube on Roku? (Fuhhhuk premium)
Brave Browser completely blocks em when I'm watching on my phone.

Another vote for Brave Browser. Works the same as Google chrome without google's tracking. Haven't seen YouTube ads since maybe 2016...

Part of it is it's election season. These campaigns pay extra so you can't skip the ads.

Brave or Duck Duck Go blocks ads. No need for premium.

Firefox with Ublock Origin I have never seen an add on youtube. Thats my desktop, Brave Browser on android, again, no adds. Not even tubi.
I'm finding it difficult to masturbate to this. I'm trying, I just have so little to work with...

Even Amazon Prime Video has ads now…unless you upgrade to premium, which of course i did.
Just one more way to suck $$$ from the consumer.

It came with Google Play Music (which is now the much shitter YouTube Music). Frankly, I’d love to ditch YT Music but it’s the only streaming service I know that allows you to upload your own music to stream. I have a lot of stuff that’s not on normal streaming sites that I like to listen to.

So are the ads based on your search history or demographic?

You can upload own music with Spotify.

The ads are unbearable on YT. If they kept them to 5 or 10 seconds I doubt you would have so many people finding ways around them

My understanding is both Apple Music and Spotify don’t stream your own library but just share the files across the devices that you have the app on (Dropbox-like) and you play them locally. I have a shit tonne of albums and don’t want to take up 3/4 of my phones’ memory with all my music.

Really wish Google had kept developing the GPM interface as it was pretty intuitive. YT Music is basically Spotify’s special need cousin of an interface.

Not just YT but all the music sites are becoming shit. Bloated messes with crap. Why can’t one app just do one thing great? They all have to be your one stop shop. Audiobooks and podcasts and radio and all this other shit. And none of them do the other shit well so you still end up needing 2-3 apps.

And user interfaces are trash now. All of them. Essential features buried. Shit you don’t want front and center. No customization.

Im almost to the point of just using siriusxm for $5/mo on my phone and not even having a music app.

Rising costs for a shittier and shittier product that forces crap at you that you didnt ask for as a justification for the higher price.

As a guitar gear nerd and a camera gear nerd, I watch a lot of YouTube and paying for premium is the best $$ I've spent. Grabbed for free as a promo, and have never looked back.
