My First Original Song In Six Years - "Dirty Lumberjack" (Lyric/Performance Video)

Post by SterileEyes1 »

Always fun entering the Sludge lion's den with most of the music stuff I do, but it's been awhile since I've done an original.

It's political. If you've been on here for any length of time you probably know where I stand. But this isn't about any particular politician. It's about their voters.

Hope some of you dig it. I'm sure some of you won't. I'm sure even more won't check it out at all. All good. Cheers, Sludgers! :D

Actually, that was really F'ing good. Kind of an AIC meets Sabbath Vibe.

Well done.

Very obscure, but reminds me of an early 90's band called The Bogeymen

Gives VinnieVincentsVags band a run for best song by a Sludger (His is still better though..and better video :D )... Has the same kinds sound. You guys should get together and jam

Finally a legitimate reason to "blame Trump" (for your shitty song........).

And I was also hoping for Sleeks definition of a "Dirty Lumberjack"..........

I already said the song isn’t about Trump, but thanks for drawing attention to it anyway! :D

Thank you! I don't write often anymore so makes me happy to get a response like this.

I'm going through some Bogeymen stuff on Spotify and it's cool (bit of a Cry of Love vibe if we're talking obscure early 90s rock) but not really placing it with this. Any particular song you can point me to? Musically I've long had this one pegged as "If Slipknot's Vol. 3 had a song that sounded like it belonged on Load."

Also I hear often that VVV is the good stuff around here. Always had the idea in my head that if I ever did one of my cover videos for a Kiss song it would be cool to collaborate with a Sludger on it. I'll plant a seed here and suggest 100,000 Years 8) Cheers.

I dig it. Daveg already pointed out the AIC/Sabbath vibe. I listen to a lot of current stoner/sludge rock and I think this song falls into that category. Musically it reminds me a bit of an instrumental stoner band called Clouds Taste Satanic. Well done.

I dig the groove and production but you lost me when you started singing. I think a better singer could elevate the song.

That was awesome. Great fidelity.
I think Tool would sound like that if they didn't take themselves so seriously, dropped the pretentiousness and had a little fun.

I don't get the title but I'm sure there is a deeper meaning.

I prefer the drunkstream where you sang Van Hagar songs in falsetto.

That was really cool, Man. Some cool guitar work, in there. Better than a ton of stuff that gets posted here.

My thoughts as well.

It is definitely better than any Foo Fighter song that has been released in the last 20 years

Don't know why, but the Bogeymen song Killing Ground came to mind as I was listening. Hadn't even thought of that band in years. :D

Check out VVVs tune Automatic. Not just a good song cause he's a Sludger, but just a good tune.

Admirable that you play all the instruments yourself. But, the lyrics suck and you can't sing.
The title of the song is stupid as well. Find an accomplished singer and write better nonsensical lyrics.

Popping in to say thanks again to everyone who’s checked out the song. It’s surprising and cool to get positive feedback after having not written in such a long time.

Some of the criticism I don’t entirely disagree with. In response I’ll just say that this is my art and I don’t do it for money or likes. If I was, I would have stopped half a lifetime ago, and I would have stopped doing the tribute covers years ago as well. Doing this stuff makes me happy and keeps me happy. So, I work with whatever talent and resources I have, and with the choices being either to do it with some limitations or to not do it at all, I choose to do it.

I guess the tempos are similar but Killing Ground is a fun song regardless!

And yes Automatic is a cool and well-done song. I like when grooves are simple but manage to work.
