New Thin Lizzy Album with Phil Lynott and Eric Bell
Not on my 2024 bingo card: official new Thin Lizzy release.
They took a bunch of Phil's vocals from the early albums and recorded new "unplugged" arrangements with Eric bell.
The version of Whiskey in The Jar is out.... it sounds okay, but the original is mostly acoustic anyway.

Pretty weird.

I don't know what the point of this is. Those first three records are basically low key Irish Bruce Springsteen. So, now you're going to slow them down more?
I suppose if you're just an absolute die hard Phil Lynott fan, it might be interesting to hear new takes on this stuff, but I think those albums are just fine the way they are.

Bad idea. Phil's vocals were the weak link in Thin Lizzy.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 7:05 am Not on my 2024 bingo card: official new Thin Lizzy release.

Rubbish the voice is the most distinguishing part. Without that it would be Wishbone AshLove_Industry wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 9:14 amBad idea. Phil's vocals were the weak link in Thin Lizzy.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 7:05 am Not on my 2024 bingo card: official new Thin Lizzy release.

I hope they do this with Lemmy! Easy listening versions of Motorhead classics with his vocals!Love_Industry wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 9:14 am Bad idea. Phil's vocals were the weak link in Thin Lizzy.
Def Leppard actually did this recently!

Pretty certain I've never heard a single Wishbone Ash song. Am I missing anything?alexleehooker wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 8:08 am

Nope. TL has 2-3 good songs though. Most is super forgettable.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 5:48 pmPretty certain I've never heard a single Wishbone Ash song. Am I missing anything?alexleehooker wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 8:08 am

Not to mention Hollywood (Down On Your Luck), Soldier of Fortune, Baby Please Don't Go, Angel of Death, Still In Love With You..... the list goes on and on.

Sounds like a studio recording... it isn't. The classic lineup (with Robertson and Gorham) was a force of nature.

I'm a big Thin Lizzy fan, they're one of my top 5 favorite bands but I have zero interest in this. Remasters, reissues, unreleased live shows, bring all that shit on and I'll line up for them like the nutswinger I am but I just can't see the appeal of some 50 year old outtakes overdubbed with some modern guitars, most likely run through an AI generator and resold as new Thin Lizzy music.
