Checked another bucket list band off last night, as Warrior Soul played at The Cellar in Hamden (CT). I just found out about the show two days prior....and based on the very thin "crowd", it wasn't well publicized. There were maybe 40 people there, and a good number of them were with WS, or were the opening bands and their crews.
They played the Space Age Playboys album in its entirety....which is not an album I was familiar with. I mostly listen to the first three. This album was listed as one of Lars Ulrich's top 15 albums. I gave it a listen the day before the show and thought it was really good.
The band put on a great show. As much as I liked seeing Vain about month ago, I enjoyed this show more. Kory is a better frontman than I was expecting. In addition to the songs from the Playboys album, they played an unrehearsed version of Fuck the Pigs, Punk and Belligerent, Love Destruction, and they closed with The Wasteland. It was odd that they didn't do anything off of Last Decade Dead Century, but I'm not complaining.
They are only doing four shows for this run, I think tonight in Salem, MA, then NY and NJ.
All Sinners, I think from MA, opened. I showed up about 2 songs into their set. Its the third time I've seen them recently, as they opened the Vain show and the Dangerous Toys show. I have gone from saying 'they are a decent opening band' to being a fan. Check them out.

I read reviews on here a while back saying Kory's voice was completely shot. Has he recovered any of it?

I'd watched some videos before and I had set expectations low based on them.
It's not like it was on the first three albums, but it didn't sound like he did on those videos that I saw that were....rough.
He sounded good, but he also put on a great show. You can tell when someone is into what they are doing, and it was NOT like watching Ace Frehley up on stage.

I would love to see Warrior Soul but they don’t seem to ever play the Pacific Northwest.
The Wasteland was the song that got me into them.

The Space Age Playboys record has always been a favorite of mine and I own all the WS stuff. Unfortunately the follow up SAP records were not as good as the first.
Warrior Soul was a bucket list for me and when Kory came over to Detroit for the Back on the Lash record, I flew from Calif to see him play a bar in Port Huron. He IS a great showman and it was an epic night. Talked with him for a bit, bought him a beer and got a personalized autograph for a buddy of mine.
Sounds like the current setlist is a good one
