KISS Meets Masters of the Universe: A Crossover Masterpiece Waiting to Happen
KISS Meets Masters of the Universe: A Crossover Masterpiece Waiting to Happen
As an Italian KISS fan (and proud of it, mind you), I’ve spent years imagining the wild possibilities of combining the Starchild, the Demon, the Space Ace, and the Catman with other larger-than-life universes. After all, KISS has never been just a band—they’re superheroes, cosmic warriors, and mythological figures rolled into four personas. But let me tell you, I’ve stumbled upon an idea so perfect, so grandiose, it feels like it was written in the stars by the gods of rock themselves: a KISS and Masters of the Universe anime crossover movie.
Now, stay with me here, because this is a little rambling, but trust me, it all comes together.
Picture this: the movie draws inspiration from The Elder and KISS’s 90s Psycho Circus comic series, where each member is a superhero with their own powers. The Demon breathes fire and conjures demonic forces. The Starchild wields cosmic energy through his star-shaped eye. The Space Ace manipulates time and space itself, and the Catman—well, he’s got feline reflexes, primal strength, and an unbreakable will. These personas are perfect for an anime format—bold, visually dynamic, and larger-than-life.
Enter Eternia, the world of Masters of the Universe. The premise? Skeletor discovers an ancient interdimensional artifact—a twisted circus tent floating in the void of space. This artifact, of course, belongs to the Psycho Circus, a realm that’s part dreamscape, part nightmare, and entirely powered by the energy of KISS. Skeletor plans to harness this power to finally crush He-Man and rule Eternia. But the artifact has a mind of its own and summons KISS from our world to protect it.
Now imagine: KISS, in all their Psycho Circus glory, landing in Eternia. Their flamboyant outfits and powers somehow fit perfectly in this universe of muscle-bound heroes, sorcery, and technology. The Demon teams up with Beast Man for a pyrotechnic battle. The Starchild has a psychic duel with Evil-Lyn. The Space Ace challenges He-Man himself to a friendly sparring match (because why not?), and the Catman trades agility tips with Battle Cat in between skirmishes.
But it’s not all rock 'n' roll and cosmic fireworks. The storyline should delve into what KISS has always been about: individuality, rebellion, and the triumph of creative energy over oppression. Think about it—He-Man’s mantra, "I have the power," aligns beautifully with KISS’s philosophy. And Skeletor? He’s the perfect villain to clash with the Psycho Circus ethos, embodying greed and ego in the face of KISS’s collective, anarchic creativity. And the final battle? Skeletor is revealed to be Mr Blackwell.
This crossover absolutely screams for an anime format. Only an anime could capture the neon-soaked spectacle, the over-the-top battles, and the emotional core of both franchises. Imagine a studio like MAPPA or Studio Trigger taking this on—the animation would be explosive, the fight choreography jaw-dropping, and the character designs ridiculously detailed. The Psycho Circus realm alone would be a psychedelic feast of swirling galaxies, menacing clowns, and larger-than-life theatrics.
And, of course, KISS would create a new re-recorded soundtrack album to go along with the movie. An Elder meets Psycho Circus, if you will, blending hard rock, operatic ballads, and the occasional orchestral interlude. Vintage cuts like “Mr Blackwell” and “Odyssey” could be reimagined with a fresh symphonic twist, while new songs would incorporate the drama and mystique of Eternia. Can you imagine Paul Stanley’s soaring vocals echoing through Castle Grayskull? Or Gene Simmons growling out a battle anthem as Skeletor’s minions advance?
This project would be a love letter to fans of both KISS and Masters of the Universe, while also pulling in new audiences who crave the kind of maximalist, genre-defying entertainment that only these two franchises can deliver.
So here’s my plea to the powers that be—whether it’s Gene, Paul, or some visionary producer out there: let’s make this happen. The world needs this crossover. It needs the Psycho Circus in Eternia. It needs He-Man and Skeletor rocking out alongside the Demon and the Starchild. And most of all, it needs a reminder of what both KISS and Masters of the Universe have always stood for: the power of creativity, individuality, and a touch of madness to inspire us all.
Let’s unleash the power. And let’s do it loud.

Re: KISS Meets Masters of the Universe: A Crossover Masterpiece Waiting to Happen
I am close to finishing my remix of (Music from) THE ELDER. I am a long-time fanatical fan of this album (since the day it was released). I will have 3 versions coming soon. The first two versions will be a straight remix with virtually no musical changes of both the US and JAPANESE versions of the original album. Mostly the drum sound will be improved as most things are pretty great sounding overall.
The most exciting version (for me anyway) is a hugely expanded version that will have all the regular songs remixed with a few changes along with an extra 35-40 minutes of completely new material.
I have approached this version like a Broadway musical format. There are 2 "Acts" where I attempt to tell the story a little more clearly using not only the original songs, but almost as many new songs/mixes of both alternate "versions" and brand-new songs using almost all of the known unused demos.
Paul is "the Boy" and eventually "the Man/Hero"
GENE is Mr. Blackwell, Morpheus (musically/lyrically)
and the voice of "The Elder"
ACE is "the Oracle" warning of the "Dark Light" and the "Malevolent Order" which the hero has to face.
DORO is the heroine/love interest.
This version includes pieces from "Council Of The Elder"; Gene's demos of "Legends Never Die", "Rotten To The Core" and "Only You"; Pieces of "Nowhere To Run" and "I'm A Legend Tonight" along with Ace's "Breakout" and "Don't Run". There are two duets featuring the "heroine" of the story (played by Doro Pesch) featuring here and Gene singing together. There is also a 10+ minute "Closing Medley" made up of pieces of several different/alternate versions of many of the songs which recap the entire odyssey.
For me, one of the only flaws of the album is that Paul is so underutilized. Since Ezrin has him in the role of "the Boy" we never really hear him get to use his fantastic "rock" voice at all. I've tied to remedy this will Paul also using his stronger singing voice in "Nowhere To Run" (in the role of his own conscience) and "I'm A Legend Tonight" as he accepts his destiny and confronts the villain.
All of the "bonus" stuff is edited and arranged to fit the story line, so I only used the pieces of lyrics that basically "fit" the ELDER. For example, "I'm A Legend Tonight" is a duet between Paul (now the hero) and Gene (Mr. Blackwell) as they trade off in their final confrontation. "Only You (Part Two)" adds more of an element of the love story as Doro proclaims her overwhelming draw to the hero, accompanied by the Gene (the "voice” of Morpheus).
All of the new songs feature Eric Carr (or his re-arranged Elder drum parts) and/or Ace as much as possible. For example, I use Ace's FC version of "Breakout" for the guitars, but the KISS version Carr jam '81 for the drums. For the Doro version of "Only You" I use Eric's drum parts to create the drum track rather than using her album version or Gene's demo version. And of course, Eric is also on the KILLERS material.
I am very excited about this one and have been working on it for months now.
Until then, check out my fan-edit of Phantom which has a completely new all-KISS soundtrack.

That’s even more unhinged than the Italian guy.
But the fucking Elder?? He might as well have said "Im spending a lot of time cleaning my toilet bowl with my tongue. By the time Im done, I'll have made it spotless in ways no one's ever thought of"

Re: KISS Meets Masters of the Universe: A Crossover Masterpiece Waiting to Happen
I’ve loved the album since the day it was released (not ironically) just like a lot of other fans. It’s the perfect KISS album to “reimagine” in this way since it always felt like a half-finished project with lots of stuff left off that floats around. I only wish a few of those demos were of better quality, but I’m doing what I can. The fact that I have a true appreciation for the album will show and I have no doubt that most other Eldertards will enjoy the new additions. And for those that don’t, there will be the mostly unchanged remixed versions.HueyRamone wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 7:45 am Yea. On one hand I applaud Wiseacre's dedication, craft and passion.

It an enjoyable experience and creative outlet to basically pretend I am producing an album I love so much. No offense to Ezrin, who is a master and in my holy trinity or producers alongside George Martin and Phil Spector, but it really feels like his heart wasn’t in it. Of course he wasn’t working with a visionary like Roger Waters, but still…I’ve loved this album since I was 12 years old and know it backward and forward. It’s always been an obsession of mine and I’ve always been fascinated by all things related to it. I for one am beyond happy they made the album. It’s the most interesting and “musical” thing they ever did.

Manowar would be a 10x better fit for Masters of the Universe

Should be pretty soon. I’ve been working on it for weeks. I have most of the “new” pieces/songs pretty much finished and the regular mixes are more of less ready. I’m just wanting to get the bonus stuff up to snuff before I post it all. I am also doing “stylized” version of the 3 FRIDAYS songs clips that will be videos to accompany this new version.DemonFilth2001 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 3:05 pmWhen are you planning on completing this?Wiseacre wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 10:23 amI’ve loved the album since the day it was released (not ironically) just like a lot of other fans.
