Very strong tune. King is an acquired taste. But I have acquired it. Caught the recent tour, too. First time seeing him and Overkill. Both were great.

Amazing!
Thank you for posting the link!

I love King and MF. I was lucky enough to see Mercyful Fate in '84 on the "Don't Break the Oath" Tour (my 2nd club show ever). Full original line-up, bitches. I stood right in front of King the whole show and it was EPIC. I also saw him on the Abigail Tour in '87 and again a few years ago.
When MF re-united in '93, they were on Metal Blade and my band got to open for them for a month in the States.
I got to chat a couple times with King backstage and he was a super-nice guy.
New tune is cool as expected. He has such an ear for great haunting melodies.

Loved hearing this in San Diego- outside cold windy venue
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

Count me amongst those that haven't quite "acquired the taste" yet. Musically, it's great. And if I'm just listening to the occasional song, like in a radio playlist, I'm good, but I don't think I can take song after song of that falsetto. Someone posted a full video of one of the recent St. Lucifer's Hospital shows, and it's was cool to watch, but after about 10 minutes, I was tapping out.

yeah, I get it. It's a big turn-off for a lot of people. I thought is was a little cheesy when I first heard him, but his melodies and songs are so killer I gave him a pass.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:21 pm Count me amongst those that haven't quite "acquired the taste" yet. Think of killer some of his stuff would sound if he could actually sing it all in full-voice like Ripper does here...

And early Mercyful Fate? I prefer dark-evil to the campy horror stuff of King solo too.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:21 pm Count me amongst those that haven't quite "acquired the taste" yet. Musically, it's great.
Check out "The Beginning", if you haven't heard it yet.

I dig King's voice, it's perfect for the music, I liked his voice the second I heard it.Wiseacre wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 9:07 pmThink of killer some of his stuff would sound if he could actually sing it all in full-voice like Ripper does here...Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:21 pm Count me amongst those that haven't quite "acquired the taste" yet. Those covers are pretty cool. Who's the guitar player on the left in the Ripper clip? Is that Caggiano? I'm pretty sure James Murphy's on the right...

Same. I've tried soooo many times, but just can't get past the vocals. I think the music is great though.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:21 pm Count me amongst those that haven't quite "acquired the taste" yet. Musically, it's great. I was like that for decades. My son got into King. He would play them all the time, and i would find myself humming or singing the melodies. King has some earworms. And i am here for it.

A click boring, no real hook… but otherwise it’s okay.
