I love Armored Saint. Anything with John Bush singing is great. Wish the documentary that was made about the band that had a hollywood premiere last year would hurry up and get a release on a streaming service or bluray.

Re: Who even likes armored saint?
I can agree with that. It certainly wasn't a well planned operation from South African, Russian or whatever services and the Kurds had nothing to do with it.Kajsa wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 4:08 amIt hasnt shown for a long time just that question mark. Most theories are ridiculous, it's like this particular street was at that moment packed with foreign agents, terrorists and violent criminals carrying the same type of guns.
One or maximum two gunmen acting alone and on impulse. Christer and the Skandia employee. Stig Engström. It's one of them.

Re: Who even likes armored saint?
They are a 'insider' band for sure. I absolutely love that two brothers from East LA got a band together in High School and are still at it.
Joey Vera (bass) seems like he has a finger in everything, he's probably in more side projects than Rudy Sarzo. Bush has been in a bunch of bands (Category 7 is crazy good!) and does voice over gigs too. These guys are true pros, and they have a kick ass band as well.

Read that the Michael James Jackson produced their album I got interested in to check them out.
But... IMO their songs sucked (and also the production of MJJ)

Also been the home of Jeff Duncan for more than 30 years. While he (among many others) had a dorky/laughable appearance in the Odin segments in Decline of Western Civ II, he's carved out a good career with 'Saint, is a real solid guitarist IMHO and from all accounts is a super cool, nice, down to earth dude.EzyRider wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:33 pm They are a 'insider' band for sure. I've only heard one of their songs and it was alright. After some of the comments here I'm going to delve into their material in the new year.

With a better vocalist, better guitar playing, more consistent, and vastly superior songwriting. But, yes.

Re: Who even likes armored saint?
This. Symbol of Salvation is their Back in Black, as it's effectively their tribute to Dave Prichard.
I'd also throw a vote at Revelation, it was done when Anthrax was taking time off between Volume 8 and WCFYA, and Scott and Charlie were doing the SOD reunion, and I don't think it gets as much recognition because it's not one of the classic era albums. I've probably listened to it a lot more than Raising Fear.

The Symbol of Salvation Live record is also damn good.

I just picked that up on Vinyl. Was glad to be able to see that tour, because Reign of Fire is the only song from the album they play regularly.

i've checked Symbol of Salvation, somewhat coolish. The guitars are excellent, best part of the record. That & yea, John Bush's voice is strong & metal, for sure. Nothing else really grabs me, though.

Gave it a listen today. It was alright. Didn't offend me. But didn't grab me in to listen again anytime soon.

Last Train Home is also often in the set. Surprised they don't add more, but they're usually on an opening slot so they have to cram other stuff in.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 3:22 pmI just picked that up on Vinyl. I’ve seen them open for WASP twice now in the last three years. I was (and still am) unfamiliar with the majority of their songs - knew the stuff that got a little play on MTV way back - but I did enjoy them live. I was in the balcony at The Ryman, so well out of spitting distance.

Re: Who even likes armored saint?
I just finished listening to Scott Ian's book, I Am the Man. He said John turned down the Metallica job to focus on Armored Saint as Metallica was just another thrash band slogging it out as well. Of course, by the time Anthrax called, it was clear Saint was going no where. By the way the Audiobook of I am the Man is on Spotify and Scott is the reader. It's a fun read/listen.Rocker4Real wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2024 11:19 am I heard John Bush was offered the lead vocal spot in Metallica early in their career and turned it down. Is that really true?

First three albums were solid. Saw them open for Stryper and for Wasp and Metallica at First Avenue. Great live band then.

Re: Who even likes armored saint?
I really liked them when I saw them in almost 40 years ago (in January 85) with WASP and Metallica.
