Do you still listen to albums?

Post by DonJuanDeMarco »

I don't mean physical vs digital or streaming. Like for example, Spotify has their "THIS IS..." compilations. Are you going to listen to that? Or a Greatest Hits? Or do you still go album by album?

Personally, I've always been an album guy. Even if I hear a Greatest Hits record first, I'll go back to the record my favorite song came from and check out the entire thing.

Definitely still an album guy. I generally seek out a full album over a greatest hits comp, but I will throw on a greatest hits comp if I'm completely unfamiliar with a band.

Yes. I've started listening to a few Spotify "This is..." for new bands and I also finally got round to putting my ripped songs (several tens of thousands) onto some USB sticks and setting them to random play, but that's mostly just for the car. At home it's almost always: play one album from start to finish, then another one. And I almost never skip a track.

Once in a while I'll put a CD in at home and let it play all the way through. I also like to go to FYE every now and then to see how their used selection is.

Oh hell yeah.

I'm definitely an album guy when I'm at home, actively listening to music. If I'm in the car, I'm typically a playlist guy.

Now playing: Rodney Crowell's The Houston Kid. I'd put in my top 10 of all time.

No car here, so I'm usually at home, spinning albums from dusk til dawn... Ocassionally, I'll just put my mp3 collection on shuffle.

Now playing: Stryper's In God We Trust. I'd put in my top 1000 of all time!

Sure, but rarely in CD or vinyl format. A mix of complete albums and my own playlists, mainly on Spotify. I sometimes look at greatest hits or "this is" playlists on Spotify, just to see if I've accidentally left off a song or two for artist playlists I've made.

Yes, "albums" (CD's). My new work truck didn't come with a CD player, so I bought a bluetooth CD player for the truck. My commute is about 45 minutes (used to be 20 minutes before all the Damn Yankees moved down here), so I usually listen to 2 albums a day.

Yeah, I still tell Spotify to play complete albums and get irritated when it doesn't know the album.
Tesla s Great Radio Controversy for example last week... Not available on Spotify... Had to switch to YouTube Music...
