Best Live Album (poll)
Most of these rarely, if ever, make a top 10 greatest live album list, but they should.
Got Riffs?
Re: Best Live Album (poll)
Of those, Priest, because it is one of those live records where everything is better than the studio version, which is how it should be.
Most of the others just fall into the category of: "Band plays their own songs competently".
To be fair, the Nugent one is pretty boss too.
All-in-all, I am more of a Live at Leeds or Queen/Zeppelin bootleg guy tho. I want a band to play significantly different live.

Re: Best Live Album (poll)
I went with Priest, even though there's studio shenanigans...
Scorps/Maiden/Ozzy are great too...
Exodus's Another Lesson in Violence is my non-listed fav...amazeballs production, it's a real show, and they left in all the ridiculous/awesome stage banter.

Cheap Trick would have been a good inclusion

Side one of KISS Alive! is better than all of the other choices combined.

Great live record. One of the best things they put out.kytepunches wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 4:36 pm Rush - All The Worlds A Stage is the winner…if made an option.
Of the main list, I went with Live After Death. If you only had to pick one Maiden album to listen to the rest of your life, that's probably it.
Bob Seger had two awesome live albums with Live Bullet and Nine Tonight
Uriah Heep January '73 is great and underrated.
*I kinda want a new screenname. Seriously. I barely watch racing anymore.

Re: Best Live Album (poll)
L&D and Unleashed are the 2nd best live albums by the respective band.
Life Live and Priest... Live! all the way baby.
But generally I prefer bootlegs or "raw" professional recordings.
If Priest had released the entire San Antonio 82 or Dortmund 83 show officially they would be better than any of their live albums so far.
The 50 Years of Metal box live section was a massive disappointment - neither of those 2 shows, a POE show where they played only 2 songs from that album, and literally nothing from before 1979.

Re: Best Live Album (poll)
To those asking about Live & Dangerous, Strangers in the Night, Frampton Comes Alive, Live At Leeds, etc.
These are all highly overrated (decent records, but in no way deserving of being in any Top 10 list, IMHO) ... kindly see my previous thread/poll of all time overrated live albums
https://forums.metalsludge.tv/forums/vi ... 1&t=387999
Regarding the best Priest live album, Unleashed > Priest...Live. That said, I would agree that if they had released a live record from the Screaming tour, that would likely be their best. Halford - Live Insurrection is also a great live record, but not quite as good as Unleashed.
Agree that Life/Live is better than Live & Dangerous, but no where near good enough to warrant a place on this list.
Regarding Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite, LOL ... didn't quite make the cut. However, As Recorded at Madison Square Garden was one of the first records I ever owned and was pretty damn good. Which reminds me, CCR Live in Europe was another great live record I had as a youngster.
Also, Beast From The East actually almost made the list. Not a fan of Cheap Trick, Bob Seger, Uriah Heep, or Rush (save for 2 or 3 songs) so I've never listened to their live albums.
Listening to One More From The Road as I type this ... great record, although not Top 10 worthy.

Re: Best Live Album (poll)
Kiss Alive also falls in the category of "So much better, it makes the studio versions irrelevant." But I guess you'd have to like Kiss for that to be the case.
+1 on Speak Of the Devil being on here. SOTD>Tribute
And while we're on the subject, I dont like it when they dont actually work to make the full album feel like the live experience. Live After Death and Tribute stick a bunch of bullshit on side 4, wrecking the concert setlist experience. I dont like that.
