McCartney on SNL. Why do these guys do this to themselves?
He’s in his 80s. Pick something you can actually sing! This is self-delusion at Paul Stanley levels. There is no reason on earth he had to pick that song to perform. He’s Paul fucking McCartney. He’s got a hundred well known songs that he could have picked from.

Don’t want to hear the golden slumbers part.
You’re right, that’s one of the worst ones to pick.
Why not go for ‘oh darling,’ too

I suspect the song choice was a nod to Chris Farley.

Paul's been the real deal without tapes or any other smoke-and-mirrors bullshit into his '80s. I think we can give him a pass when time finally catches up to him.
Paul Stanley levels? Not even close. Fuck off. Show some respect.

Why? No one is a bigger McCartney nutswinger than me. But this shit is just embarrassing. Paul Mc thinking he can belt out Golden Slumbers in 2025 is no different to Paul Stan wailing and screeching an unnecessary intro to Cold Gin in 2020.Mister Freeze wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 8:48 pm

Wheeen yaaawwurr down in the dumps, carrry that weight!!!
These people don’t have anyone higher up in the chain of command telling them they suck and to make more intelligent choices, this is the problem.

Why didn’t Skidrow show up with the 23rd singer- missed opportunity
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

Re: McCartney on SNL. Why do these guys do this to themselves?
I'm guessing he did that song because of the skit he did with Chris Farley on SNL back in the day where they mention that song. "Remember ..when you were in The Beatles..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHPQFPdj8koBernieTaupson wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 7:22 pm He’s in his 80s. Pick something you can actually sing! He was SUCH a great singer. What a gift he had. Sad to think he’s gone mainly because he felt so embarrassed after getting busted peeping on his fiancé’s sister.aznsquirt wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 12:01 am Good excuse to remind everyone how amazing Brad Delp was:

My first thought was Ooof. Second thought was PM is self-aware. Yes, he could have chosen a song his voice can handle, but he chose that one. He probably knows how he sounds but gives no facks. On the other hand, Paul Stanley is delusional.

Paul chose the song because of the message, which is the same reason Ringo always does this:

If it's dangerous, illegal, sickening, strange, or obscene
You can get it from the man if your money is green
Re: McCartney on SNL. Why do these guys do this to themselves?
its Paul McCartney, a freakin Beatle,. we are lucky to still have hm around at 82 years old and still performing. Is he 20? nope, but he is out there without a net. not tracks or autotune. we win because he wins. A living Legend.

Agreed. He doesn't need to prove anything. He already did.

Well, he proved he can’t sing anymore, that’s for sure.
Re: McCartney on SNL. Why do these guys do this to themselves?
It’s funny how the original question is answered over and over by the apologists in this thread. “but, but, but…he’s MACA!” Yes, he is and that’s the point of the thread. Why suck when you don’t have to?BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 11:33 am Well, he proved he can’t sing anymore, that’s for sure.
Probably the same people who shit all over Ace for playing and singing like shit in his ‘70s.

people in this post saying it’s Jesus incarnate are no different than kisstards making excuses for Paul lip syncing.
Yes, he’s Paul McCartney. He could have keyed this song down and came up with a different arrangement.
Sounding bad is sounding bad, doesn’t matter who you are

A guy with a degenerative disease who was too ill to perform at his RNRHOF induction six months ago, and this Sabbath thing is in July …
Re: McCartney on SNL. Why do these guys do this to themselves?
His performance here did not live up to his legendary reputation.

I thought Paul Simon was way worse . McCartney was passable.. Cher and Bonnie Raitt were the gold standard of how to sing in your golden years.

Paul Simon has a serious medical issue, he’s rapidly going deaf.

Paul isn't delusional. He used the Paul Stanley Vocal Smoothing Pedal (TM) on the last KISS tour.Hatchets Molly wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 4:13 am My first thought was Ooof. Yeah and still screamed like he was 35 with the intros etc and said he was never sounding better and going out on top. Delusional.

Paul vocally didn't go out on top, but KISS did. That was their longest tour (250 shows; no previous tour broke the 200 mark) and it was their highest grossing tour.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 1:11 am Yeah and still screamed like he was 35 with the intros etc and said he was never sounding better and going out on top. The band was tight. Gene, Eric, and Tommy sang well. Good stage production (not my favorite; that would be "Monster"). Most pyro I've seen at any show. Packed TD Garden in Boston. Crowd was into the show as was the band. I also saw them two years later at the amphitheater in Mansfield. Smaller production due to the smaller amphitheater stage. Good show, but not as good as the show in Boston.
Re: McCartney on SNL. Why do these guys do this to themselves?
My God. I’m a lifelong fan since the ‘70s and have devoted innumerable hours in recent years to remixing and cleaning up old KISS shit and even I can admit the last tour was a slow-motion, karaoke-clean embarrassment of what was once “KISS”. Out on TOP?????risingfarce wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 2:19 amPaul vocally didn't go out on top, but KISS did. EOTR was pure shit. I saw it twice. Once for free and once towards the very end just in case they had any final surprises. Of course they didn’t and neither show was worth the price of gasoline to get there.
I know you are a confirmed troll, but this is beyond dumb.

KISS sucked circa '96/'97 due to two shitty alcoholic/drug addicts who shouldn't have been on a KISS stage ever again.Wiseacre wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 2:29 amMy God. They literally stayed around long enough to prove their earliest critics 100% correct by going out all style and zero substance. Bombs and smoke, old guys looking terrible and bored with canned vocals that still sucked. It couldn’t have possibly been any worse. And I’ll say exactly the same thing about my boyhood hero Ace. No idea what the fuck he is even thinking at this point.

Reunion was magic for actual fans as literally everyone knows. Fuck Karaoke Fake KI$$. Without Ace and Peter (or Krazy Vinnie) there isn’t an ounce of actual rock n roll in that band. Without them it is literally Juan Epstein and Arnold Horshack in clown makeup with loud guitars. Zero swag, zero cool. Fact.
“I have better things to do with my time.”
I seriously doubt that. I’m not a n00b here.
