Duff McKagan:Believe in Me – did anybody like it?

The one that started it all. Spreading gossip and insults since 1998.

Well, GnR was also probably the ultimate "record labels were chomping at the bit to hand any one of them a solo record contract with a fat advance" band, too.

People tend to mock all of the "lame attempt at a solo project" moments in music history, but don't realize how many quick bucks have been made over the years by a lot of those artists.
Exactly. And I actually like the title track on Believe in Me.

I agree his voice is not lead singer material, but Gilbys wasn’t either. I actually enjoyed the Duff record….when you
realize he played “the majority” (no pun intended) of the instruments. Drums as well
Pawnshop Guitars and Adler’s Back from the Dead are my picks as best GNR solo output.
Both Snakepit records had some great material, never heard why Eric Dover wasn’t involved after the 5:00 record.
But Slash keeps bringing Myles annoying ass voice and weak melodies for another forgetful album

At least do a project with Micheal Monroe.
the cover of Magic Carpet Ride was such a tease

It was….ok, I guess.

His second (unreleased) solo album, Beautiful Disease, is much better.

I jumped on this thread to mention this also. I wish Geffen would have put that out. I probably wouldn't have done very well regardless.

Believe In Me is basically a punk record done by a member of one of the biggest arena rock bands in the world at the time. And seeing as how the record was started during days off in the Use Your Illusion session, then completed on days off during the tour, using riffs that weren't being used for GnR.
There's a ramshackle quality to it.
You can listen to my two albums here.... Sludge away, fuckers!
