Good Lesser-known Desmond Child Songs

Post by Rocker4Real »

We all know the big hits he wrote with Jovi and Aerosmith. What about the songs that do not get mentioned as often? What are some of your favorites?

Sword and Stone (Bonfire's version)
Hour 1 (Scorpions) He's all over the Humanity: Hour 1 album, which is actually pretty good.
Tied Up (Billy Squier)

I have a feeling we did this recently, but regardless.

I prefer Stonger from Squier, which is a hugely underrated song. Tied up is great as well.

That Hour 1 album is fantastic

Bif Naked - I Love Myself today

I also never knew he wrote Waking up in Vegas for Katy Perry, which is a great tune

Man, never knew that Billy Jazz Hands took a ride on the Desmobile in search of a comeback. They really tried to rebuild the facade with Hear&Now but the public just didn't bite.

Desmond also recorded "The Price of Loving You" for his own '91 album Discipline, and that's the only version I've really listened to, but it's pretty good.

And he produced the Shocker soundtrack that included Sword & Stone by Bonfire.

And also from his solo album…

Love on a Rooftop was recorded by Cher.
I Don’t Want To Be Your Friend by Cyndi Lauper.

The dude worked it!!!

Kane Roberts Saints & Sinners is like Trash Part 2.

Ratt Detonator…I’m curious about that one. Did Ratt write the songs and he touched them up? Because they don’t sound like typical Desmond songs.

Southgang Tainted Angel was like that. The songs were done. He just touched them up.

The Story of My Life of his solo album.

I think he wrote it for someone else but ended up using it himself.

Ratt's - One Step Away is a great song too that Desmond Child has a writing credit on.

I bought his boxset and it's pretty staggering the amount of good songs if you like his genre that he wrote and variety of artists he wrote from from KISS to Ricky Martin WTF?

Ratt needed his help 2 years earlier. 1990 was too late.

Maybe, but RFTS still had a few good classic Ratt songs, IMO. "Way Cool Jr.", "I Want a Woman", "City to City", and "What's It Gonna Be", in particular. Rest is kind of filler-ish, but not terrible.

WCJ was a rescue track that got tacked on after the label forced them to fire Mike Stone and rehire Beau Hill to try and salvage what they knew was a failing record.
