MICHAEL MONROE ... Tonight The Whisky, Tomorrow The Rainbow Bash, who is going?

Post by MetalSludgeCEO »

I have a feeling these shows are going to be Bonkers off the chain for sure...

Hearing some rumblings about some surprise guests, but not sure how legit that is, or will be...

Either way... the Sunset Strip is going to be going off for the next 36 hours!

I always thought Stevie was more similar to Michael than Bret. You even covered Dead Jail Rock n Roll when I saw you!

I caught the NYC show. The band played like their lives depended on it. Great set. I don’t know if there was an after party though. It was a school night and we went home afterwards!

Have fun! I’m sure the Whisky and Rainbow are gonna be awesome. Say hello to Sebastian and Axl for me!

Whisky was a great show, crowd kinda sucked though. MM seemed to be getting pissed off lol. Lots of sound issues they were trying to fix on the fly. Think the techs got their ass kicked after the show haha

BUT the playing was great, MM was in great form as expected, and the best news was that MM said they have a 3 year Visa so they plan to be back in the US very soon. Glad they figured out whatever issue stopped them from coming; if memory serves, MM gave an interview and said there was no way to make a US tour profitable, that the last one (2015? 2016?) they basically lost money on it.

Saw Alex Kane outside afterwards, and Slash came onstage for Magic Carpet Ride at the end. Jim Dandy came out earlier in the night and no one gave a shit though

Awesome and nice to hear this...

I was thinking as the last week or two unfolded they played 10 shows, and pretty much all were 100% SOLD OUT or at near full capacity.... and a few of the shows Sold Out weeks or months in advance.

There are NOT a lot of those happening with the same 10-15 bands touring coast to coast, every spring, summer and fall.

That sucks, he'd be the only reason I'd have gone if I lived near there...
Ain't flinging tears out on the dusty ground for all my friends out on the burial ground. Can't stand the feeling getting so brought down. It's just that demon life has got me in its sway

Yeah... I saw a few pics and videos... in the end... gotta respect that guy, he is 77 years old and still doing shows.

And... we all know... he is NOT traveling in any kind of luxury or playing huge places... so I have mad respect to him for that.

In the end... Dandy was the original David Lee Roth by all accounts of those who saw him in his hey-day... correct?

Just purely based on video evidence...I don't really see it. I mean, I definitely see the visual similarities, but other than that?

I think the people that complain about Bret Michaels stealing his schtick from Steve Whiteman have a better case.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some rock fest lineups in the future and work in the club tours around that.

All I remember is whatever he did on the Cal Jam broadcast.

So I had no idea what to expect.

Yesterday's show was one of the most bizarre things I have seen in awhile. I don't know if I was expecting it sound like Molly Hatchet or what. When you see these old name from half a century

As they were setting up someone said to me look it's Ed Mundell from Monster Magnet.

Then Jim Dandy is helped to the stage, sits down and starts ranting and raving and I have no idea what he is saying and next thing they are playing Monster Magnet's Space Lord Motherfucker. A lot of times he is just howling and screaming while the band is playing whatever. He talks about taking acid in New Orleans, falling down and "cum coming out of dick" and then they are playing Hendrix's Bold As Love. I would so go see a headline show. Michael Monroe and Steve Conte were watching sidestage and totally digging it.
