Mike Tramp Solo Albums

Post by StateOfShock »

I listened to some of Mike Tramp's solo albums this week and found them to be very boring. A decent song here and there, but overall, they just feel like they have no soul to them.

What are your thoughts on his solo work?

To me, his first solo album is like a good WL album. Next 2 are fairly solid. A few pretty solid tracks sprinkled through the rest of his catalog.

Listen to This is Mike Tramp on Spotify or the compilation albums Trampthology or Everything is Alright. The albums themselves are not great but he's got great singles. Some depressing stuff for sure, to be honest! But very heartfelt, good songs.

Don't go expecting hard rock though. It's all very folk/Americana.

Big fan back in the day. Now listening to Mike is depressing. Sings in a way lower range and slows down most every song he performs. Songwriting ability is still there but for me it’s just a tough listen. He seems like a great family guy and good human being.

I finally heard his song Mr. Death and have no problem admitting it. I broke down in tears. Music can do that.
It brought back the loss of a close friend who was like a “brother” and for years you play the what signs did I miss in thinking things over.

I still listen to it. But those first few times were rough.
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

I'll give his stuff some more listens based on most here enjoying it. Maybe some of it will grow on me.
