Kix - Don't close your eyes

Is easily one of the best ballads of the era.

I agree.

But I'm slightly biased because it was on the radio when I had a clock radio in my bedroom for the first time (I was like 7?), so I was woken up every day for a couple of years to whatever songs were on the radio then and if I hear any of them now they take me back.

Fleetwood Mac Little Lies does it for me the most. Esp. since I never really heard that song after then. I swear the intro makes the room feel colder anytime I hear it.

Anyway, yes Kix rox

It's not bad! Blow My Fuse and Cold Blood are their other two good songs. I like these two more than the ballad.

A little after that came out, I was in the studio working on some record, and they had the synth they used on that song there with that patch on it. I messed around with a couple chords and it was like: "Oooooooh. There's that sound."

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

That one and Don’t Know What you’ve got by Cinderella are hard passes for me. I can’t change the channel fast enough. Although, I’d list to Don’t Close Your Eyes if I had to choose.

It’s in my top five hair ballads, for sure. I was just listening to it yesterday, in fact. Then I followed it up with my #1 favorite hair ballad of all time, “Headed For a Heartbreak”.

Cool band... nice guys, solid songs, who had the success they earned and deserved.

In the 80's, Kix were completely overshadowed and an after-thought when it came to the bigger bands that sold millions.

That's not a dis either, it's actually factual.

You think? I wouldn’t put it up there with the best of the genre, never mind the era.

"What I Am" by Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians reminds of the clock radio going off before high school. Also "Beat Patrol" by Starship, which wasn't much of a hit, but my local pop station loved playing it for some reason.

Midnite Dynamite was such a huge album for us when we were in high school that we just assumed they were huge rock stars.
Crazy to think they finished the Blow My Fuse album/tour & owed Atlantic a million dollars yet.
Always one of my favs but could never get into first 2 albums cept for a song here & there (usually ones played live)
