Gary Barden/ Paul Raymond would have been MSG, unless they had a solo band I am not aware of.

If Gary Barden's name is cool enough to be top billed on the cool rock mag, than what you said is totally unimportant.

"Man, did you see the Nikki Sixx "Sixx Appeal" cover of Kerrang? Badass!"

"WELL, ACTUALLY, Nikki Sixx would have been in Motley Crue, unless he had a solo band i'm not aware of! OH HO HO!"

Even moreso, people would probably have given you a weird look had you even pointed that out.

"Ere, Nige- even notice how Fast Eddie Clarke and Biff Byford arent that pretty?"

"Eh, wot? Are you having a laugh?"

"I just mean, they're not very good looking blokes, are they. We sar em at Donnington, in the mud and piss, and I dont think they 'ad any makeup on"

"Makeup? Pretty? You listen to Motorhead cause you want pretty? I look at Sam Fox when i want pretty. Poofter."

In the early 80s in Barnsley.

But that probably says more about Barnsley than it does about Saxon.

Who is the loser in blue vest AC DC reject?
Did he ever go Gold? No high school cheerleader(female)would waste her parents allowance on that garbage magazine or music

I spent my allowance on Dangerous Toys(the band) cover on Metal Edge magazines and Dangerous Toys (the band) CDs

Dangerous Toys (the band) went Gold because of this

It’s weird Saxon should have named the band Junkyard because that’s what they look and sound like. Saxon fans actual go to Junkyard for parts

Blackeyed Susan always cool

Did Kerrang! have exclamation points (!) after each band on each issue for a while?!

I'm filing Saxon in the cool for 5 minutes category, I like a few songs, but their pictures are ridiculous. They're playing here in Paris in September, the only people I know who are going are old farts. That fart dust. Openers are Sortilège, a French band from the 80s that also farts dust.

Agreed that Lemmy and Mercyful Fate were cool every day!

Maybe Da Leps could’ve passed for pretty boys when they were starting out and their music kinda got lumped in with the NWOBHM bands.

Biff always looked cool to an extent, but the white stretchy pants were unfortunate.

As for the rest - unkempt baldness is rarely cool.
Jack Nicholson was ok at times.

I think it was Gallagher who said no one wants to pet a dog with mange

Yes, I think it was until the redesign somewhere around issue 30, when their new designer, Krusher Joule, brought in the famous spiky logo. No doubt Huey can dig through his archive to find the precise moment.

Def Leppard were never pretty boys- first 3 CDs would get rejected just based on looks. Sure Hysteria and Adrenalize had improvements but they were never Nelson 1990. After The Rain was massive success for a reason

Visually, Autograph was the LA Saxon. One guy even had a visor!
