Warrant - "Dog Eat Dog" is 1/2 killer, 1/2 filler

Revisited/listened to whole "Dog Eat Dog" CD this a.m., on my way to work. I'm a big Warrant fan, and although features some of their best work, IMO, side 2 is pretty much all filler.

Killer:
1. Machine Gun
2. The Hole in the Wall
3. April 2031
4. Andy Warhol was Right
5. Bonfire
6. The Bitter Pill

Filler:
7. Hollywood (So Far, So Good) ("meh")
8. All My Bridges are Burning (sounds like a leftover/didn't make the cut for Cherry Pie)
9. Quicksand (sounds like a leftover/didn't make the cut for Cherry Pie)
10. Let It Rain (sounds like a leftover/didn't make the cut for Cherry Pie)
11. Inside Out (total filler)
12. Sad Theresa (sounds like a leftover/didn't make the cut for Cherry Pie)

Disagree. It's an almost perfect album from the era but Bonfire's chorus sucks hard, and Hollywood So Far is terrible... the Jane Says rip doesn't help. Hated it back then too.
The rest is great.

Initially, didnt care for this album outside of a few cuts. Now, I dig the whole album. Guess when it was released, felt like they just changed who they were to fit in and didnt agree.

Disagree. It's an almost perfect album from the era but Bonfire's chorus sucks hard, and Hollywood So Far is terrible... the Jane Says rip doesn't help. Hated it back then too.
The rest is great.

Bonfire is one of the better songs on the CD.......

Hollywood So Far, reminds me more of Led Zeppelin's "Over the Hills and Far Away", than Jane Says.

Side 1 sounds like a different band that no one (outside this board) wanted after Cherry Pie. Andy Warhol is nearly unlistenable

I'm a huge fan of this record. Loved it from the moment I first heard it. Still love it.

I don't agree with this comment that it's 1/2 killer, 1/2 filler but it's not ALL heavy and dark like the hype was when the album first came out.

Truthfully, I think Andy Warhol Was Right, April 2031 and Bitter Pill were the only 3 songs that really set this record apart from their first 2 albums.

If you take the other 9 songs, it sounds like a more natural progression.

I don't agree that All My Bridges and Quicksand are filler. So, that's a majority of songs that are good. Some of those songs Warrant played before they are signed (Sad Theresa), so they were reaching back to songs that didn't make the first album.

Good solid album. And more consistent than Cherry Pie.

Funny you say those songs didn't make the cut for Cherry Pie, when they are better than about half the songs on Cherry Pie!

That's an awesome record from top to bottom. If I had a gun to my head, I guess I would say the only filler is "Hollywood" because it's the Jane Says ripoff. But otherwise it's really great and holds up to this day.

My favorite Warrant LP. To my ears, half of it sounds modern (for the time) and the other half sounds like classic Warrant. A perfect combination of old and new.

I wouldn't call it overrated - it's awful, didn't sell, and it ended Warrant career.

The Man in The Box ripoff song on that record is really embarrassing.
